Awesome work. IDK if that chassis is strong enough, though..................

It's definitely strong enough. I'm sure 3mm would've been fine with he top deck in place. AAMOF, you should do 3mm on top to save that little bit of weight.

Sry to hear that. I've been lucky so far. Now watch, the next time I turn it on it'll go RRoD on me! (Red Ring of Death for those of you who didn't know)

The little weight savings from a thinner top plate is more than compensated for by the fact a 2200Kv motor powered by 5 - 6s batteries will be powering this thing. Not to mention the CF chassis and top plates weigh less than the hardened aluminum chassis.

A small set back... - 08.07.2009, 10:20 PM

I got the HPI 2200kv Tork motor in with fins and it is to big for the Tekno mount. I want to order Mike's mount for the GTP but I would feel a lot better with some back side support. Pushing 22-25v into this motor has to create some incredible torque so I want to maintain the best gear mesh possible. I have looked up the Flux's motor mounts, but HPI commands a premium for them.

I am sure the RC-monster mount is solid but will it hold this beast.

The heart of the Beast!!! - 08.07.2009, 10:51 PM

Here is the heart of the beast. And looks how it compares to the regular Mamba motor.

Why is that? I think that might give me the horizontal support i was concerned about.

you generally want to allow it to flex - Otherwise chassis flex actually bends motor mount which will screw up your mesh...

The 4.4mm CF top support plates and 4.4mm CF chassis...Flex will not be an issue... that is why I want the motor locked in as solid as possible.
