I made a carbon fiber wing out of an old wheelchair back.

Parts list is looking great Harold, anxious to see the assembly get started.

So get yor hands off Hippies rump and start putting the screws into some CF instead ?

I'm busy selling off parts to pay for the build. Oh, and I'm on bedrest healing a pressure sore. As soon as those things are done I will get building.

Tell us how those shocks work out,I e seen them ALOT but haven't heard anything about them. but why didn't you just upgrade your stock shocks? Phatdad shafts, threshold seals fast eddy bleeders and darksoul orings make a damn near indestructible shock, probably costs more but in the long run it might save you some cash.

what stock shocks? This is a ground up build!

I got these shipped to me for $100. Way cheaper than stock shocks. They have beefy looking shafts and look well built.

It seems like limiting straps are the key to keep shocks healthy. As long as they don't bottom out they last.

The last option parts arrive - 04.18.2011, 01:25 AM

Carbon fiber tank brace, carbon fiber rear shock support, turtle front shock brace, suspension limiting cables, darksoul meaty servo mount, and a threshold servo saver spring support, and a full force r/c carbon disk aluminum pad brake set. Carbon disks and aluminum pads are the hot setup, just be sure to sand the glossy off the disk so fibers are exposed to grab aluminum!

Steering is the biggest complaint when it comes to the baja. I have done three things to address and eliminate problems.

1. http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.88...t.A/id.7916/.f This raises the linkage mounting point putting it inline with the servo horn.

2. http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.88...t.A/id.7870/.f This toughens the saver and keeps it in adjustment

3. http://www.davesmotors.com/s.nl/c.88...t.A/id.6226/.f This does the most to remedy the steering. In stock form at full left turn the servo horn hits the chassis limiting left steering throw. Normally the meaty mount is installed on the switch side of the radio box. If you install it on the non switch side it centers the servo more, avoiding the annoying servo horn hitting the chassis. My steering will be spot on!

I ordered an entire knock-off 5b to get the rest of the parts that aren't aftermarket. That should arrive at the end of the week, then I can start building!

Forgot you didn't start with a RTR,let's hope the seals hold up as well.my venture into aftermarket shocks (RC4WD) didn't go so well.

The first run should pretty much tell the story.
