If you use that way then you will get a tall ratio( more speed, lower torque, fast drainage of battery and heat issues), but low the no. of teeth on the PN and increase it on the SR for more torque and effeciency.

no not all the way high on pinion and not all the way low for the spur
like jus enough for speed and great torque still

Just adjust and try the truck with different spurs and pinions back and forth till you find the optimal gearing for your truck.

The hv maxx is rated at 375 watts of power. If you run a different brushless motor. you can get more power from same cells. Not downing the novak though. It is a nice motor. It just wasn't strong enough for me. I used to run a 14 72 with my novak. It did decent.

Peace!

So long as he is happy with the setup, then there is no need to scare him this much.

Then what are you going to do when you get the fast setups like the Feigaos and the Lehners?!!! YOU will surely be scared of the power they have.

Not very well, from experience my batteries fell out often when I rolled. I now use zip-ties (cable-ties) to hold them in aswell as the G3 straps.

I personally hate the zip ties very much, because they're a bit slippy. Probably you didn't tie the straps very tight.

The novak is a nice motor. If you don't have the room it is all you will need. Some real good cells will wake it up better than any thing.

Peace!
