Ha! That's pretty funny . . . yeah that's a Lehner all right. It's an old 1940/10 hi-amp that I fried in my CRT. Oh boy, that brings back some memories. I don't know why I keep it around. Here's the old thread detailing the death of that Lehner if you're interested:

http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7223

My XT8 will have either a Neu 1515 3D or 1515 1.5Y on 6s. Or it might have the Monster Max motor if that thing ever materializes and is what they claim it to be.

yikes - i do remember reading that thread, and i still feel your pain. hopefully that was an isolated incident with the Lehner - i have a 1940/7 hi-amp that i had in my 13+ pound SuperMaxx, and will drop in the eXT8 - hopefully with better luck!

Yeah, it was a brutal day. I remember it very well.

I'm sure you'll do fine with yours - I think mine came with a winding that was rubbing from the beginning and it shorted out.

I don't doubt that. I know it sure put a bad taste in my mouth. I'm pretty much Neu all the way now.

guys, you're freaking me out...i have to go home and do a voodoo protective hex on my motor...

actually, i have a pretty high number of runs on mine and i love it. really high performance, and it's always run cool as a cucumber - and i did my best to over and undergear my maxx to test it. so far so good, but then again i've never had it in a race. we'll see soon enough how well it holds up.

Well if you've run it for a while with no problem, you're probably fine. Mine didn't sound right from the beginning but I never had a Lehner before and just figured it was ok. I wouldn't worry if I were you.

it's still with dan @ rc product designs - i'm supposed to get it back sometime in the next couple of weeks (yippee!). i'll post pics as soon as i get it back.

i don't know much about the kyosho, but either of the other 2 would be a great choice. of course i'm partial to xray.

Nice, so what power system do you have planned for it? And by the way, do you mind sharing why you went with the 8ight-T over the ST-RR and the XT8?

some final progress! it's been a while since i updated this.

-sold the lehner/mm combo and got a Neu 1515/2D and MMM
-5s enerland 5050mah/30c/8ga wire (2 packs)
-RCM motor mount
-RCM battery tray
-installed the captured hinge pin system

i may be getting the xt8 big bores, and RCM's extended chassis. and some tires that don't balloon like crazy. oh yeah - they don't exist.

geared 46/15, it's a total rocket.
