Traxxas just can't get their scales right... The revo is stated as a 1/10th but it's an 8th scale... I don't see the 1/16th being right either.

The part about the scales being off is very true. But it really doesn't bother me. What a dilemma I have now: SC10 or mini e-revo...

The E-Revo is a very capable off-road vehicle and can handle numerous types of terrain. The joy in having a 1/10th scale is that it can handle most of what you throw at it. The 1/16th have a lower ground clearance. This will be a serious limiting factor in its off road ability. That is fine if you consider off-road to be things like grass or hard packed dirt, but if you consider what off-road as I do, these trucks will not cut it.

They will be fine for parking lot races, and light duty bashing, but in my opinion that is the extent of it. Nothing against the vehicles, but like I said, I don't get it. Sure it has a few perks due to its small size. More portable, and that's about all I can think of.

I would rather deal with a larger vehicle that can handle what is put in front of it

Running them in front of your house on the street, in the house, garage, small plastic ramps in the grass, etc is what they do best. However, what fun is for some people, isn't always fun for others...
I brg to differ slightly, I have had a few different 1/18 and they were all ok on track based surfaces. Of the ones i have had, Rc18, Losi mini LST and duratrax Mini Quake SE, the Mini quake SE was the most durable and most capable of the bunch. it had big enough tires to handle all but the nastiest terrainand a drivetrain that would handle a real powerful setup (1107/2y Neu w/ quark 33 car esc/3s lipo) I could run with the 1/10 ST trucks and keep up good, even the big jumps

I really hope traxxas did their homework and bring as tough a mini, as they have in the other categories they got

I sent an e-mail to Traxxas last night asking about the 1/16th E-REVO, here is the response I got today:

Hello,

The 1/16 scale trucks should be in US hobby shops sometime this spring. They are in the prototype stage right now so the final product has not yet been decided. They will probably cost around $200 for the brushed Slayer EX and around $300 for the brushless E-Revo 1/16.

$300 sounds bad at first, but its close to what you would spend if you bought another mini + a brushless system. I'm not really all that excited about the velion system they will have though. I'd rather just put together my own bl combo using a 1/10th sidewinder & 28mm medusa motor.

There's two sides to every schwartz, he got the up side and I got the down side.

Ehhh, minis are minis. I have to say I have had more fun with a stock rc18t than I did with any of the bl setups. 3 bills is a bit steep for a toy. I would rather have a big truck with a 300 dollar lipo in it (not really). I guess people who like minis like minis and the rest of us are just different. All of the minis I had broke too easily.

I'm definitely gonna try and get one when they come out. I agree though, the red plastic needs to go...I don't know which one to choose though. I know as soon as I'd get one, I'd want the other. Only downside is the Slash isn't gonna be available with the BL apparently.

Oh, and to whoever said it would include the 27mhz radio, I don't think it will. I think its gonna come with the 2.4ghz setup. If you look in the video, the radio has the short stubby antenna.

Like everything else traxxas, I wish they would sell "pro roller" versions or even a pro kit where you dont have to pay for the crappy electronics I dont even want. I know they are the original RTR company and RTR is pretty much their claim to fame, but it would be nice if they evolved a bit and started catering to the more savy customers as well as the newbs.

can anyone else see a mini summit coming out of this? perhaps its to small to effectively use T-locks and different transmission ratios but who knows.

Toys:

Slash with VXL
E-revo with MMM/Teckno Nue 1515/1yf running 4s and 5s

Personally, i think it will be a great addition to the mini's. If traxxas can make it as durable as their other cars and trucks, should be good. I think it uses either stampede front or rear tires so its a bit bigger than most other mini's, should make tire selection easier. I think a set of 30 series bowties would look cool on it. I plan to get one, but will wait for the initial rush and problems to be resolved

Yeah... I'd be included in the first group. I like mini's.... especially mini skirts.

but honestly, for me its more a necessity since I live in a tiny cul-de-sac w/ only 4 houses on the street. Anything 1/10th or above is too large to really have fun with around the house and street, so mini's are a natural choice for me when I want to get a quick r/c fix without having to drive 20 mins to the nearest quality bashing ground.

I don't see the tires as being stampede size. Stampede talons are 4.8" and watching the video they surely don't look that big. I hope they aren't that big, I want a mini, not a 1/10 4wd! If there isn't a release date soon I'm prolly gonna have to get another rc18t

Are there any estimates for a release date?
