Update:

Found some old pictures of weight comparission between my batterys, the weight of the chassis and such, just thought I should post them if someone were interested

I changed out all the sloppy plasticballs for some revo metal ones in the steering:




And here is the weight of the 15mm chassis, 540grams:


My 4000mah 4s nanotechs, 423grams each:


The old Rhino packs, 3700mah 4s, 406grams:


I have always been afraid to rip out the sockets from the mambamonster, so I made extensions back then so I didn´t have to pull the motorcables directly from the mamba:


I don´t use them anymore tho since it gets too messy in my latest build wich you can read about here:

Time for an update!

Just ordered a whole new truck! Ordered it in parts mostly from Dollarhobbyz and Tcs crawlers. It will be a XL build this time without the batteryboxes.

So it finally begins!
Just as the last build it´s totally dedicated to bashing. It´s aimed to be light, agile and ofcourse bulletproof.

So it starts with the Tcs chassis to make some meassurements for the battery tray thats going to hold two 5s 3000mah lipos:




The battery tray sits on Hpi´s plastic bulkhead braces, should be more than enough to support my lipos:


Did cut it out by hand as usual from a kitchen cutting board:

The magic box finally came:


And then there was christmas early!:



Started with the diffs, deassembling, shimming, greasing, changeing oil etc:

Made some stops for the hingepins:




Mounted dual braces to save the bulkheads:


Bearings in the servorack:


Steel balls in the steering linkage:


Hd servo saver spring:


Drilled holes to use longer screws:


Made slots in the carrier to get blown bearings out easily:

First version of the extended rear shaft, simply cut and welded, didn´t hold up to my abuse:


This is the second version. Cut, inserted in a handmade steel tube with six 4mm holes in it, welded in the six holes, then finished in a lathe. All done by a very skilled friend of mine called "Karlsson" , this version has taken som serious abuse and still holds up! Basher approved:



Some plumbing was done, oops pic taken after the first testdrive....:


The aluminum bulkhead mounts:


The custom skidplate, also mounted after the first testdrive, was going to not use a skid, but bent the rear centershaft so decided to moke one up:

Had to remove some material from the chassis to get free movement:


After the first test session I installed washers on the toelinks to keep them from popping off:


And then there was a whole truck all the sudden!:




Painted the body black and white to make it more easy to see how it stands in the air on those freaky uncontrolled "flip it like you stole it" jumps:

And what can I say? It´s beyond all expectations, the thing I love the most is that when everything is mounted so tight in the center it´s so much more easy to make the truck lean to left or right in mid air, which makes it possible to throw some awsome underside up whips.

I´m sorry that I forgot to take pictures of the making of the esc mounting plate and the servo mounts. And the gearboxmounts and motorplate.

I now have three things left to do on the truck. Build my "indestructable" shocks from 5mm Revo pushrods (see page three), buy a aluminum gearbox housing (see page three), and install my other radio with telemetry for temp and voltage.

The parts for the shocks have arrived, just have had to much fun driving it to do any wrenching:

Long time no see!

A few things have happend except tons of bashing.

Some new springs Coils/White 159GF/MM Hpi86554:


Got the shocks modified for the 5mm shafts:


Got the flm draglink:


Got a bigger motor for less heat, Leopard 4082, vs Castle 1515:




I´m always cutting the skids like this, otherwise small pebles gets stuck between the a-arm and the skid:


Got the Tqi radio in:

Installed the Cen racing internals from the genesis/matrix, I did this not because I stripped the gears, but because I kept snapping the 2.5mm pin on each outputshaft. The Cen internals uses 3mm pins. Just drilled up the flux outputs from 2.5mm to 3mm. Strongly recomended!:
