Aaahh the snow has melted and the ground is somewhat dry - time for some spring bashing!

Now running with KB45-12L 1400kv, Mamba Monster Max & 6S lipo.

Everything went pretty well, until I broke the bigger gear from Kershaw's transmission. At some point earlier I overtightened the setscrew holding the gear, apparently damaging the threads. Now it got loose and broke the "collar" from the gear.

Ordered couple of those gears from SDP-SI, but because I had extra day off from work, I just had to get the car running. Managed to fix the broken gear by drilling & tapping a new hole for the set screw, changed the motor to KD36-74-15XL 1100kv and was off to see if this thing could learn to fly...

I was pretty close to succeed in my teaching lesson, but unfortunately the front diff broke. Prolly the rear went too because the driveline was locked at the end... Transmission rolls well though.
Also one plastic spur met it's maker, because the motor shifted a bit.

Other than that I was really having fun.

...janezki thats some great stuff...Your driving surface looks quite loose...any over-heating problems on it? Good to see you using the truck for what it was designed for :D Great stuff

Thanks - the 1100kv motor didn't really get too hot, so no probs with that.

Got two new transmission gears from sdp-si with very reasonable price of $19.97 including postage to Finland...



... and started to disassemble the truck to see what kind of damage I've managed to make.
The rear diff seems to be ok, but the front had all four screws cut from the bevel gear, which then jammed the driveline. Bevel & pinion gear look ok to me, but the spider gears are damaged. Also the diff cup will have to be replaced, because of the screws that are cut inside the threads.

Janezki - i didn't know you were finbilly on Youtube. i used to watch all your brushless 1/10 vids. Nice work on them btw. Good looking xl you got there as well.

Well that's me allright. There are some decent videos there, though most of them might be below average. If I'd only have some editing skills...

do the sdp-si gears fit correctly? If so, I thikn I am going to need to order some. I shattered (yes shattered) my gear into at least 5 chunks, and ordered replacements from dan. Its been 3 weeks. Finally got them, but realized I got the wrong ones (I asked for 48t like the original gearbox, but I needed 45t, cuz I had the updated version). Sent them back on friday, but knowing dan, I won't get the correct ones until next week at the earliest (if I am lucky). I think I might just order from sdp-si as well.

Look for gear A 1Z 2MYZ1004506, it's the same except that it's got 3mm set screw (prolly Dan modifies them for 4mm?)



edit: oh, and the smaller 20t metal gear is A 1C 2MYK10020H

why did you swap the KB out for a KD? did you fry the KB45-12l too?

No, KB is allright. I just switched the motors because the KD is lighter and I knew I was going for some big jumps. Wanted to be sure the motor will stay onboard when jumping.

Well I haven't been posting lately, but I just broke the 44t gear in my 2 spd. tranny and thought I'd share my 2nd gear locking method. It's basically a small tack weld that i filed smooth. Not the prettiest, but works great. I snapped both of the tabs off the 44t gear and filled a new one with epoxy to stop that in the future. I also took all the teeth off the small gear if you were wondering.

Got the Revo slipper mod done (finally), had the parts lying around for couple of months already but lacked the inspiration...





Had to postpone the testdrive because of hailstorm & loads of rain...

Nice slipper mod.

Some E Revo owners have problems with their slippers burning up because they set them a tad too loose. If you get problems with that be sure to look into Mistercrash's aluminum slipper mod. You can find it in his sticky topic over in the Revo section.
