Impressive. Great to see an 1:6 converted to brushless with this power level. Would be interesting to see eagletree Graphs of this built. Don't hesitate to post some pictures ;-)

x2 please

Thanks to all for your very warm welcome!

It's a pleasure to share pics with you and I'm going to write some details along with the pics.
I'm also interested in data logging and will try to find out what's suitable for this car. Am I right that eagletree is limited to 150 amps? That might be not enough.
The calculated speed should be 60+ mph with the original gear-ratio (16/48) but I took a shorter ratio (14/48) to get more torque as it is still fast enough.
The highest temperatures i got were 140°F at the ESC and 120°F at the engine.

First 4 pics show the belt drive-unit for the 4WD.

That is very, very, very cool. do you have any pics of the setup under that belt guard thingy?

The next ones show the engine and the motor flange. The small engine is a Lehner 1930 out of my E-Maxx to give you an impression of the engine size. The weight is 2,2 pounds.
The front part of the flange is custom made; the rear part is taken out of a FG EVO 04. With this unit I can use the engine in the Monster as well as in my EVO 04 and it takes less than 30 min. to change the unit.

Beautiful! That motor is huge. I can't even imagine what a 3080 looks like.

These are the compartments for the Lipos. I cut them out of 3mm cfk-plates. They allow for four different settings in terms of weight and weight allocation.
1. 1P in front, 2. 1P lower and more rear, 3. 2P in front, 4. 2P front and rear.

BL_RV0 11.22.2008 12:50 PM

Have you considered mounting the 1p tray sideways on the chassis rather than straight and diagonal?

That's how it looks like with lipos. 1P is 2,7 ponds.
The electrics besides the ESC are voltage-controls for 16 cells plus a voltage control and limiter for the receiver-lipo.

BTW: The 3080 has the same diameter but is 40 mm longer, heavier (3,5 ponds) and of course more powerfull if not to say too powerfull for this car.

BL_RV0 11.22.2008 01:00 PM

Sweet. Your setup looks nicer with the lipos installed.

Last but not least some pictures prior and after test driving.
I think that's it for the moment. Please feel free to ask for more details and thanks for watching.

Hermann

Unfortunately not but you can download the manual from th FG homepage. I wanted to keep the Lipos in the most secure and protected area in the car and that is right in the middle although it might be better to have the weight lower in the car.

Stunning piece of work. Although its a taboo, I have to ask; how much did all that cost to put together?...

How can you have too much POWER :surprised:You can NEVER have too much power

You Herman .:diablo:.. Really make me regret that I traded 3 FG cars and 2 extra 26cc motors for a lathe :rofl::great:

Ooh and welcome from Denmark

E-VO-Maxx 11.22.2008 01:48 PM

Yeah it's a taboo but it's no secret because you could google all prices in the www. The conversion was approx. 2K Euros without the car. But I did what jayjay mentioned earlier: I sold almost every piece of RC stuff that I had to make this project happen. And I'm going to sell all the gas-components from the monster as well. This makes it a little bit easier for me - and my wife...
