BL-conversion of a FG Monster 1:6 - 11.21.2008, 12:55 PM

Hi guys,

My name is Hermann, I'm 46 years old and I'm living in Germany.
I was looking for a forum that deals with BL-Monstertrucks and so I found rc-monster.com.
My first BL-MT was a Traxxas E-Maxx with an extra long chassis and a lot of other alu-parts from Unlimited Engineering. I still love this car although it's almost 6 years old but still running with a Lehner 1930 and a BK 18/90.

After taking a closer look I found out that 1:6 brushless conversions are not enclosed here but anyhow,
maybe someone is interested in taking a look at my conversion of a FG Monster Truck 4WD into a BL-Monster.
I took a Lehner 3040/12 BL-engine with approx. 6-7 hp and a Schulze ESC 32.170. I use either 8S1P to enjoy a lot of wheelies or 8S2P to have extra weight and runtme and keep all 4 wheels on the ground.

If you are interested I will post some pictures of my Monster here.
To get a first impression you can check the following links at youtube.

First one is with 8S2P and no wheelies - (sorry for the fog): http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=xAjjKHV6B7c
Second one is with 8S1P only and there's no need to have 4WD: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=mZQR_Xubr8o

Hope you like it and please let me know what you think about it - thanks!

Regards,
Hermann

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Awesome- with that much power it handles like a truck half its size.

Please post up every picture you have, and any other relevant details- there are precious few builds of this quality/size around here.

Welcome to the forum.

I've seen vids of what people claim to be rocking 1/5 and 1/6 conversions and they are underpowered piles of dog-pooh compared with yours! That thing is rockin' fast!! Great job!

Would you mind posting some pics under the hood so we can see the setup and layout?

Thanks for sharing

Impressive. Great to see an 1:6 converted to brushless with this power level. Would be interesting to see eagletree Graphs of this built. Don't hesitate to post some pictures ;-)

Yes please! More Info! LOL

I would absolutely LOVE to build a truck like this.

I can only imagine a Chassis that has LOTS of room. Room for things like Batteries. LOL Or at least, Battery compartments that weren't so limited.

I'm hoping these have some bullet proof diffs in them.

We talk about 10S - 12S setups, but with the E maxx or E Revo, I can't imagine where to put the kinda batteries needed to produce the power.

Welcome, and thanks for sharing. There are a couple 1/5 scale builds here (we generally call fg's 1/5, but we knew what you meant by writing 1/6) but there would be more if we saw your build pics. (monkey see, monkey do) So yes, please post them !

In general the offraod trucks are 1/6th and the onroad cars are 1/5th classes in Europe. Not so sure how it works now that HPI started in on them.

Sorry forgot to mention to you Hermann from Germany, (wife had just came home as I watched the videos)... That is the sickest truck ever !! made me contemplate selling things to make one... I have some gas Bergonzonni 1/5 cars I wanted to make brushless, but an FG truck looks like the cake. I would build it its own garage. Im amazed the power that has on 8s. I am truely impressed with that build and its durability. Keep us updated and plenty more pics !!!
