IDK, it was raining for one of the qualifiers at the Bash and my MMM was under the nitro cooling head hole in the body. Def got a bit wet but was ok.
Seems sort of dodgy when you may get a failure, like some perverse lottery.

ok.. my theory is, that, because it was such a humid morning, with lots of fog in the morning, and commencement of rain in the afternoon, each time the MMM thermally cycled from cold to hot to cold, small amounts of moisture condensed into water, which eventually found some small crack or break in the PCB protective coating and got into the electronics..

And FYI mr Shaun, I do use full throttle, and at least I'm not the slowest steerer at the track :na:

Talked to Bernie at CC yesterday and he told me it should be covered, so it's on it's way there, should be there by Friday. Maybe I'll be lucky and get it back before the end of summer

i miss my MMM...it's been at castle HQ for exactly 3 weeks now.
they seem to have lost it cause i emailed joe and and he and jenny so far haveng really given me any info on what's going on.

i'll have to be really carefull next time with it!

Sorry to hear it is taking so long. Mine took 6 1/2 weeks back in may/june. I dont think they are as busy now as back then, so hopefully they can get it back to you quicker than mine.

Bad luck with your MMM, I too honestly am on egg shells each time I use my E-Revo. I took it out today after a hiatus of about 3 months, and it worked perfectly. I did upgrade to the new firmware when it came though (1.21? don't remember, but it was like two months ago). It ran perfectly, although the 3S Zippys had heated up quite a bit, but they didn't puff beyond the usual sponginess.

Yes, my Zippy 3S packs have been spongy for a while now, but my 4S packs are rock solid, go figure. But the sponginess hasn't hurt performance. And they're note ridiculously puffed, just a millimetre of puff at the most, they still go into the battery compartments without any difficulty.

shaunjohnson 08.31.2009 04:10 AM

ok...ive run puffed lipo's before..but i'd be very carefull!!
they do have their performance affected...particularly their voltage under load...and ripple current is one of the things that blows up MMM's

I hear ya. I don't much of stop and go runs, I usually run at 3/4 throttle so that the nitros can keep up *kekekeke*, and my brakes are set at 40% because i hate it when the thing somersaults. All the MMM settings are standard and punch is at max and initial power at lowest. But the thing still wheelies even with those settings.

shaunjohnson 08.31.2009 08:10 AM

so much to learn:yipi:
brakes with mediocre batts is just as bad!! the brakes are regenerative and hence they pump electricity back into the bats...and pretty fast too!! and if your batts cant take it...the monster trys to..and it wasn't made to do that.
you should not run 3s (unless of coarse ive miss-understood you totaly and you are running 2x 3s in series to make 6s) on a CC monster ESC in any kind of 1/8th application IMO.

am i by chance making a big silly mistake and you are actually using 2x 3s packs in series??....cause that'd make me look silly:oops::rofl:

pasan 08.31.2009 09:22 AM

Yes, 2x 5000mAh 3S 30C packs. I'm a n00b, but I know my shit :P And I mentioned braked because you mentioned ripple currents, I too am aware of it and thats why I try to lay off the brake pedal as often as possible. In a perfect world my E-Revo would have a nitro style transmission albeit with a tighter clutch. Then we wouldn't have this ripple current nonsense and we would have cheaper ESCs because the motor need only spin in one direction.

Edit: My signature displays the cell counts I run in my trucks.

shaunjohnson 08.31.2009 05:04 PM

sorry man..my bad hehe.....
i run single packs cause my revo is a convert...other people run twin packs and that's the norm to them...i forget this a lot
