Sooooo, now it gets even more interesting. We've got HPI with updated documentation stating that 100amps of continual current pull will suffice for Lipo's on the MMM. I coulda swore Castle Creations stated that nothing below 125amps would be sufficient to be reliable and safely run the MMM, especially on 3S power to prevent all the ESC meltdowns we had following the Flux's launch last year.

So, once again, what say you Castle?

look at my post higher up on this page........

it pretty much explains everything you need to know. your savage with stock gearing should be run with 150a+ batteries to be safe. 125a batteries can suffice with a stock savage, but your savage has been upgraded to XL size and you can now put more power to the ground, requiring better batteries.

edit: didn't realize this was a new page starter.....look on the last page (pg.19) for my post.

I have 2 pairs of 3s 5k 20/30c zippys and I only had an issue with 1 pair.. But it was because my RX8 bust into flames. My older pair are still running just fine on my Castle esc. The newer pair work fine again thanks to some soldering work :) 1 cell had become disconnected on the 1 pack, and the other pack a cell was about to become disconnected on the other pack, both the middle cell. When the esc went it it must have surged pretty hard, Ive never felt wires that hot before

Common sense & conventional wisdom > HPI manual. Everyone who's owned or read about the MMM system, or any BL system for that matter knows that you can never have too much battery power ( in terms of C rating & mah capacity/ discharge capability ). 120 amps as a minimum, the more the merrier- some people are really making me doubt their suitability to own a BL model if they are stressing or confused by these simple issues....

I'm finally getting my head wrapped around this brushless stuff. I'm quite happy with my weakest battery having a 150a discharge rate, it barely get's hotter than 30c after 15 minutes of bashing.

Alright then. I think you have all the common sense & initiative of a 10 yearold. You've owned a Flux and MMM + lipos before, you know exactly how to look after the system, so I cant understand why you get so flustered and confused about something written in 2 different manuals in a slightly different way. Nor do I understand your incessant need to start a new thread every time you have a daft question like:

Why is this rebadged charger so much more than this oem charger?
Why is my MMM running a bit hot in my over-sized flux?
Whats a good body for my xl chassis?
Who makes the best pinions?
What am best lipos?
What gearing should I run?
Should I gear up or down on 6s lipo?

Nothing has changed in the last 12 months since you last had exactly the same truck, therefore everythign you knew then is still valid now; there is no need to act like a 10 yearold traxxas forum noob- hence why there was a bit of a Freezebyte-bashing session a few weeks back when everyone was 'bullying' you because you were being annoying with all your silly questions and comments.

You just need to act like a grown up on a forum like this- read some threads before asking the obvious questions you already know the answrs too, and you dont need to post up helpful tips from HPI like' make sure you unplug your batts when you arent using the truck'; this is such a simple and obvious thing it doesnt need to be posted here, it isnt groundbraking info so no one really pays any attention half the time to what you post..

Welcome to the internetz, please wipe your feet
