Mohan, perhaps you can help me out. where did you get the pinion gear for your motor? is the motor shaft 8mm? HOw does that motor compare to the Neu 2215 motors or the Neu 1527? any ideas? as far as the knockoffs, i agree with you. The FGs i can tell are much nicer. this smartech is exactly the one in that link you sent. the FGs chassis is much nicer with the cutouts to save weight. this chassis is just one solid piece of like 5mm alum. alot of weight. |

The Bolido motor has a 10mm shaft which is grounded flat to 8mm on opposite sides - this is identical to the shaft output of the Zenoah engine. This allowed me to fit the FG pinion gears. I purchased the Bolido motor because of this as I was keen on having a choice of pinions from FG etc.. If you want to use a Lehner or other motor such as Neu you will need to fashion out an adaptor that will convert a 5mm shaft or 8mm shaft to a 10mm shaft with ground sides to 8mm if you want a perfect fit. I think with the high rpm this is important as you want to avoid vibration due to imbalance. Personally I am a big fan of Plettenberg motors as they are multipole motors and develop a help of a torque. I know there are other forum members who have compared the KV rating of the Plettenbergs with the Neu motors and drawn their own conclusions but all I can say is that this Plettenberg Bolido will do anything a FG monster truck will do. My setup is geared 23/40 and I believe you can go upto 25/38 max. I still have so much torque it is wasted on this gear ratio. It is geared for maxximum speed not torque but the motor is so powerful it doesnt care. I think if I install this motor on a Monster FG it will cartwheel easily and wheelie non stop. I have never experiemented with a Neu 1527 or 2215. Here in the UK it is difficult to obtain Neu motors and it is easier to obtain Plettenbergs or Lehner motors from Germany. So it is the oppositie to the situation in the USA. In the next couple of weeks I am going to install the Lehner 3080 in my MCD monster truck. This is motor is so huge it is the diameter of a 2litre coke bottle. With the 4WD I am hoping for impressive performance but realise that speed is not going to be its main asset. This motor has a 10mm shaft and I look forward to grinning when I can find the suitable Motor mount to accommodate the girth of the motor. Total overkill but who cares - I already own the motor and the speed controller to go with it. As I mentioned before it will hopefully run on 18S. I want to try and find out the maxximum limits of Brushless power. Mohan |

http://www.aero-model.com/motordetai...00/200&style=6 It's a 10000 watts continuous motors! The lehner 3080 have nearly the same rating as peak! Good luck fitting it though! |

thanks for the info. for your next project check out this link for ThunderPower LiPo batts. they have 10s packs 5000mah. run 2 of those for a 20s or you could go all the way up to 9000mah in a 6s and run 3 of those. BAM! thunderpower makes the best packs imo. anyway, you have been bery helpful, as well as others. http://www.robotmarketplace.com/prod...me_series.html |
Video
OK I made a couple of videos. It was a wet day and I could not push the throttle more than 20% of the range. However I did manage to get some videos posted.
Any tips are welcome on how I can improve traction. http://i476.photobucket.com/albums/r...G39mphroad.jpg This is the car running on a paved road at and speed gun showing 39mph. If I tried to go any faster the car would spin out of control. This video shows how the car was difficult to control in a wet lane with lots of leaves to make things worse |
I was reffering to Ryu James's onroad.

hey all,
i just finished the 1/8 schumacher. clocked it at 74mph. its a lot of fun. i wanted to use a 1509 1.5D but the wait was 6 weeks so i just went with a castle 5700kv. i am sure the Neu would be better but i am happy with it. here are some pics i promised. kinda rough right now. gonna "dress" it up a bit over the next couple of weeks with some upgrades. anyway, as mentioned i wanted to finish this first before moving to the 1/5 on road. so now i have a RC8T i am doing a custom build on and then it is on to the 1/5 on road. i still want to go with a Neu motor but i need to find somewhere to buy pinion gears with a 8mm hole. anyone know? <a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view¤t=DSC00575.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC00575.jpg" border="0" alt="schumacher3"></a> <a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view¤t=DSC00576.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC00576.jpg" border="0" alt="schumacher2"></a> <a href="http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/?action=view¤t=DSC00577.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i471.photobucket.com/albums/rr77/ryujames/DSC00577.jpg" border="0" alt="schumacher1"></a> |
www.sdp-si.com has 8mm gears. They have every gear you could ever need.
