FLM Hybrid Bulkheads
Hey guys, I don't know if this has been discussed before. If yes, just link me to the thread.
Anyway, those FLM Hybrid Bulkheads sound awesome. What diffs would I need?? |
the ue diffs or a 1/8 buggy diff would work daniel. I got a set and they are sweet. I put the ofna 1/8 buggy diffs in it. I have not got to test them yet.
UE diffs are ofna, I believe.
Not all 1/8 diffs are exactly the same, though. Thank you, Leroy |
Daf i heard the UE drive cup will not fit thru the hole on the FLM bullkless setup with out mods. I thought serum had this problem, but not 100% sure on that. I think the ofna drive cups fit.
Yeah, i did a bit of pilot testing on those things.. That problem is corrected though.. Daniel, you don't want the original OFNA diffs, their cups are too short to fit the CVD's (you need to use spacers on the CVD's then, the UE diffs (8spiders) are about 65 dollars a set, including all the needed bearings, pinion and ringgear.. And they are FUN to make!) make sure to order some shimms with them as well.
Okay, I will talk to Mike about this. These bulkheads seem like a smart idea. Can't argue with the price, too.
But this upgrading the EMaxx project will have to wait until next year. (good thing it's already end of Nov:D ) |
Mike has some ofna diffs with 8 spider gears in them put together. If not running alot of power the 6 spider gear are strong.
for a centerdiff conversion, you could use the HB diffs, they are a 10/43 ratio... (and tough as possible)
where do you get them hb gears from serum?
From Mike Leroy, he can get you the diffs. I asked him this very same question too..
i use the flm hybrids with the supermaxx 8 spider diffs and they fit perfectly!
HB diffs work in the FLM hybrids, too. The UE diffs fit fine now as well, as Serum and basketti mentioned. Tough to beat for the money.
Are we talking about the savage FLM hybrid bulkheads?
And if I am correct I will need ohter diffs in thies bulkheads? Wen will the FLM hybrid bulkheads be for sale?? |
This is about the maxx bulkless.
you know that forum of FLM, most recent information on these savage bulkless can be found there. They want to get them done asap. |
any one try kyosho tcd diffs? would they fit?
These hybrid bulks look like a very nice alternitve thho the VBS.
anybody know when the revo hybrids are gonna be out?
i plan on getting the flm hybrid bulks and when i looked up on tower for those HB diffs 3 different ones popped up, and im not to sure which one is best although im pretty sure its the more exspensive one. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXJBF6&P=Z
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLGX0&P=Z http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXLGX2&P=Z If someone could point me to whats best i would appreciate it. thanks. |
They all are the same except 2 of them are hardened and 1 is not. I read somewhere on here about helical cut 1/8 gears that would fit the hybrids and those would be super strong! But can't remember thread.
You need the ones with the hardened gears (mike can get you one)
the helical cut (they are more helical than the Ofna/UE's) is nice. They are 43/10 instead of 43/13. They are nice for those with a centerdiff.. ;) |
Just my 2 cents but if you plan to run alot of power I would go with the UE 8 spyder diffs in the FLM hybrid. It only took me 4 runs to eat up the rear Ofna diff in my truck. The spyders I'm talking about. I think the extra surface area of the extra spyders will take the stress better.
The ofna diff uses crappy gears. the HB uses hardened. difference of day and night.
but the UE 8spiders are fair priced, considering they come with a pinion, 4 bearings, shimms and the UE cups. |
Yeah, thats my point. For the money I think they are probably the best you can get from what I have read. I'll be a test bed for everybody. I just got my ship notice from UE today so I should have the 8 spyders by Thursday. As long as I get my Gorillamaxx chassis from Mike by Saturday I'll have it running this weekend. If they last longer than 4 runs we all know they are better! LOL
shim them right, they deserve it.
I might just bring my dial indicator home from work that I use on the real ones so they come out perfect.
I was planning on running 10k oil in the rear and 3k oil in the front. Does that sound right for bashing?
I would run 10k all around first. I run the thicker oil in my single gmaxx. The thicker oil gives it a push. But that is only in the rear for the thick oil.
does anybody know if the Hot Bodies diff cup is alum. or plastic. Im still not positive if im gonna use the UE diffs or HB diffs.
hb lightning diffs are 6 spyders with plastic cases but are stronger and better than the ue's
can they fit ofna titan diffs or cen genesis diffs?
Stronger and better mayb, but try and brake one of those 8 spyder's. Even in dually truck's you can not brake them.
So in other word's, you don't need those hb lightning diff's IMHO. Plus it's got a plastic housing, which has a potential to twist under power and still damage the little spider gear's. People have done that with 6 spyder's (ue) too. |
I got my 8 spyders in today and aready put one together. They are very high quality. Almost too nice to be hidden away in the diff case! I would highly reccomend them to anyone looking to upgrade. And they fit in the FLM hybrids perfectly. Only needed a few shims for perfection. I don't think these can be blown.
Let us know when you run them if you break it. I am wondering if you can do it.
what motor combo do you run that would help out too.
I run an 8xl/9920 on 20 cells.
ok cool so if your set-up doesnt bust the diffs mine wont.
so your saying the ofna diffs. wont hold up to a brushless e maxx? I plan to use dual HV setup which I used with stock about 1.5 years ago seemed ok with stock then again not bashing only speed runs.
A dual HV setup will be fine with the Ofna diffs. The dual HV setup has only about 1/2 the power output that an 8xl on 20 cells has. The other day my son sat on his bike and I tied the E-maxx to it and pulled him down the street with power to spare. The diffs are still like brand new. I actually just bought a Losi LST2 and am thinking about swaping out the diffs that it comes with for the UE 8 spyders right from the begining just for the piece of mind it will give me. I'm not trying to say that the Ofna diffs are bad, they are good as long as you don't exceed the power that they are made to handle. But the UE 8 spyders will take anything I think.
The only difference I see between th ofna diffs I got and the ue are the diff cups.
Thats what I thought too. Thats why I bought the Ofna diff first. But it didn't make it through the first weekend. The UE has taken everything my truck has dished out and didn't loosen up one bit. I think the 8 spyder just has much more surface area on the spyders to carry the load. That makes it stronger. The aluminum case probably doesn't hurt either.
