Does this look brand new?

I just picked this up from a guy on rctech who stated it was brand new.

Here's his pic:

And here's some of the things I saw on the Tx when I got it:

Not too bad, but the corner shouldn't be skinned if it's new.

WTF is this stuff on it? At least he could have cleaned if he was trying to pass it off as new.

More scratches from obvious use.

And the best part...a damn burn mark on the top edge corner. How the F can you tell me it's new when it's got a F'ing burn on it?

I did power it up and test it out. It's obvious it's been used before. The settings have all been changed and you can easily see in the pics above there's no way it hasn't been used.

I haven't PM'ed the guy yet to let him know I'm pissed, but the dude has to know whoever he sold it to would realize it's not brand new.

I'm more pissed about being lied to than anything. I wouldn't have bought it had I known it wasn't new.

What do you guys think?

That's hilarious that he posted brand new, but sucks for you, I'd be more pissed about him lying to you, straight up, when he has obvious signs of use..

Nearly new, only dropped on the BBQ during a sunday afternoon bash session once...

The grip doesnt have a built up of dead skin (yummy) or shinny surface from being gripped over time (like a stearing wheel on a 1:1), but it clearly looks like its been used an dropped a few times. Even if it was just a couple times, there is a big difference between new vs nearly new.

You should just have this reflect in his Itrader feedback and contact him on possibly getting some money back because one he lied and two its used. Did he send you pics of it before you guys finialized the deal?

I would be pissed if i recived that if he said it was new . Depending how good the deal you recived was . I would either try & get some money back or leave him negitive feedback .

I suggest public stoning...

I will never ever ever ever ever again expect new when buying from anyone other than a supplier. I got this sorta thing when I bought my DX3 a couple years ago. Was said to be in good condition. When it arrived it was terrible. Even the charge the seller sent with it wasn't ment for the spektrum radios. The guy took the sticker off the original spektrum charger and put it on the back of a dynamite wall charger. The guy obviously didn't see the polarity difference between the two wall chargers. I left the guy way negative feedback.

suicideneil 08.01.2009 11:23 AM

I would confront him with your own pictures, see what he says. If he stone walls you or pleads ignorance, then leave bad feed back, and spread the word. Could have been alot worse, but like I said new vs nearly new is not the same thing- dishonesty is bad when selling items, even if its a small issue.

simplechamp 08.01.2009 11:33 AM

I agree with others, it's not even the dings and scratches as much as it is the dishonesty. If he lied about it being new what else has happened to the radio? Pricewise too, when I buy something used (even used only once) I'm willing to pay much less than if it were new.

I'd leave him negative feedback regardless of what he says or does to try and make up for it. Teach him a lesson.

+2

RCShocker 08.01.2009 01:19 PM

I would definately let him know that you are pissed and dont appreciate him bending the truth quite a bit.

I would hope that he would offer to buy it back and apologize. At the very least maybe $50-$75 cash back for his indiscretion and the fact that used goes for much less. Hard to say not knowing what you paid. That's your business.

I would start throwing the liar & loser stuff around/negative feedback until at least he had the chance to offer a reply or an excuse.

The "cigarette-looking" burn AND dishonesty are what would have pissed me off the most.

Best of luck Sean.

skellyo 08.01.2009 08:57 PM

I'm not super pissed about the $. It was $60 shipped, so it would have been a great deal had it been new.

FWIW, I have PM'ed him about the issues with the radio. He said he didn't see the burn mark on it. How the hell can you not see it?

Right now I'm debating about whether or not to leave him negative feedback or not. He has not even offered any compensation for the blemishes on the radio. A simple offer of $5-10 would probably get me leaning towards a neutral instead of a negative.

BP-Revo 08.01.2009 09:14 PM

Ok, "so he didn't see the burn mark." Big deal.

What about the fact that he said it was new while it was obviously used? Stating "brand new" and "like new" are two *completely* different things.

You should ask him again about the other stuff, pressing that him simply stating he didn't see the burn mark does not fix things and that you are still pissed.

shaunjohnson 08.01.2009 09:16 PM

i know i'd be super pissed off!!
i'd tell him exactly what i thought, showed him your own pics, demanded a re-fund and then leave him way neg feedback and report him to ebay/whateversiteitwas.
we had a case like this my way.
friend brought a mamba max from ebay, it said the wire had been upgraded and such.
it didnt work, dead short, and the so called wire upgrade...well you guys would have died of shock at the sight of the soldering!!
demanded a re-fund and told him it was simply the crapest soldering ive ever seen..and then we got a total re-fund and got to keep the MM (cause it wasnt worth sending it back) and then promptly mailed it off to castle.

rschoi_75 08.02.2009 01:41 PM

what's his user name? He is obviously a person to be avoided when dealing on rctech.
