Neu 1515/2Y-ICE HV80-8S 1300mah-Hyper10sc Data log

Forgot to click the Wattage button, it maxed at ~1100watts. Ripple was 0.76V max.
41 amps peak, 36K rpm, 600mah in 12 minutes, and it got COLDER during the run  Truck is right at 6Lbs track ready.

Thats sweet on 1300mah cells.

DrKnow65 03.10.2011 04:34 PM

I love having 8S 40/80C lipo's that weigh less than a 2S 6500mah battery... and last twice as long (ran the truck against a 2wd slash, he went through two 2S batts).

Efficiency is the name of the game, and I'm able to lay down some serious power.
Its running a 13T pinion now. If I throw a 15 in it'll up the amps, but no 2S rig will keep up.

very cool! I can't wait till HV is more popular and we get small HV ESCs (with data logging hopefully!).

DrKnow65 03.10.2011 07:02 PM

The Phoenix ICE HV 80 for this truck is tiny :-)
And now that I see the numbers I could have gone with an HV 40 which is as small as some of the old brushed ESC's.

and they have brakes?

No they don't

brainanator 03.10.2011 08:24 PM

exactly, no brakes yet :( I mean good land based HV ESCs with logging.

Using an air one would be a fun project later on though when I get outta school.

DrKnow65 03.10.2011 09:31 PM

Yup, gotta have mechanical brakes.

I don't get why Castle will put car software on a Phoenix ICE 200 and call it a Mamba XL, but I can't have the same thing with a Phoenix ICE 100...

Oh well, I'll wait. In the mean time I've got an XL in a 1/8th buggy and an ICE HV 80 in my SC truck.

It was more a question about DrKnow's setup, as I'm pretty sure he started with an electric 10sc without mechanical brakes too.

DrKnow65 03.10.2011 09:45 PM

I used all spare parts for the brakes, but I could have just as easily bought a whole transmission complete with brakes off a CRT.5 would swap right in.

I will say that I'm working on an electromagnetic disc brake using a servo-to-pwm converting IC. Both to eliminate the servo and to make the brakes small and light enough to use in my 1/10 4wd buggy.

bruce750i 03.11.2011 04:06 PM

Is a PiStix converter thingy also needed to use the Ice esc line with a Car TX?

DrKnow65 03.11.2011 04:57 PM

I orininally didnt use a PiStix because with the trim maxed and the subtrim maxed I was able to "fake" the 1.1ms signal the Phoenix needs for a dead stick. Which it needs both to arm and to stop spinning the motor :-)

I ended up putting in a PiStix, just in case I end up doing away with the third channel for mech brakes. With the PiStix I can split the channel #2 for both ESC and brakes without weird trim values.
