How hot is your ESC getting?
If the ESC is staying cool and the motor is getting hot, you may actually be undergeared. Do you have a 17t, 18t, or 19t pinion you can try with the 66t spur?
Try going up a tooth at a time (if you have the gears) and see how the motor and ESC heat come out after short test runs.

Keep a good eye on the temps of your lipo packs while you're testing, too. You don't want those going over 130F.

You don't want those going over 130F. Joe Electronics run on smoke... if you let the smoke out, they stop working.
