puzzling question about 2 identical 2650 setups... - 12.23.2009, 10:11 PM

i've got 2 identical monster mamba combos, 2 identical spektrum DX2's and 2 identical losi 8ights. in every way, they are identical...radio settings, motors, pinions, tires....every aspect except one.

the first combo has the motor wires as white, red, and black going into the esc to make it go foward.. the second has it ass backwards. black, red and white is the only way it'll go foward. the radio settings are identical...normal servo setting, normal throttle, etc. why are all my other combos, (i have 5) black, red and white and this one is backwards?

it works just the same, i'm just curious.

Is it just the order of the color of the wires relevant to the ESC case? Meaning both motors have the wires in a "flat" bundle like this- OOO. Or do you have to cross wires on one to make it go forwards?

Sounds like CC just soldered the wires in in a different order...

double check the MMM settings, there is a setting to reverse the rotation, one might have gotten switched

is that on the newest firmware? i haven't downloaded it yet. i'm still on 3.12 which dosen't have that option. i can live with the reversed wires, i don't think it'll change the speed any.

it wont affect the speed at all.. that will only happen on sensored escs.. just run it the way it is.. the order of the colored wires has nothing to do with the performance

I'm sure it's just the MMM settings. If you download the new software, you'll find the option to run normal or reverse motor rotation.

I would say it's either the ESC setting, or maybe the motor wires were brought out a little differently in each motor. They are hand-wound after all...

i was gonna download the new Castle Link but saw this warning:

Thank you for using Castle Link software. Users MUST verify that operating amperage is within motor and ESC specifications after upgrading to V3.22 firmware. Outrunner motors may produce significantly higher power with this new version of firmware. The operating amperage may increase, causing higher running temperatures.

Downloading this software signifies that you have read and agree to the above warning.

i'm fine with the crossed wires, but this warning kinda concerned me. I tend to run on the extreme side of setups, and i don't want my temps rising. can anyone elaborate on this?

I'm not too sure on the specifics of why that is the case, but since we use inrunners (for the most part) it shouldn't cause any issues.

Indeed, the CC motors are inrunners so it wont hurt your setup at all.

Is the center diff and shafts spinning the same direction to the diffs?
Just wondering if the diffs could be in backwards.

Peace!
