is there a Droid castle link app ?

Is there by chance a castle link app for the HTC Droid incredible ? ? Seems as if there's a Droid app for everything else...........

With the right App, I can assume control of my network based computer over my Droid.

I believe this to be a matter of software development.

I haven't seen anything on it yet though.

I was just wondering because the smartphones out there have alot of capabilities these days. They have apps for R/C cars for doing gearing calculations from Novak and another one or two if I remember correctly. I'd have to dig it up but they're out there. I'm sure someone is in a stall or with their face buried in a pc monitor plugging the code away in one manner or another that'll eventually lead to this or the furthering of the technology that gets it here.

This has been discussed alot in the past and the jist of it is that smartphones dont have the ability to host USB devices, so the castlelink cant communicate with the phone, and the phone cant simply be loaded with castlelink software and connected to the esc...

Oh wow, imagine if Castle ESCs had bluetooth. Wireless programming from your phone!

THE phones can do quite a bit. I used my Droid incredible as a modem to hook my laptop to the internet not using Verizon wireless software but yet using a 3rd party software that has a workaround. I think its just a matter of finding the right programmer and they'll be able to write the code. Just about any kind of hardware can have a software program written for it if its part of the initial design process............

I've been trying to use my Droid as a dial up modem with pcanywhere. It must be dial up, since that is the only way to access the host computer.

Search results always show how to use it's data for tethering.

NOt dial up. It called pdanet by June fabrics in The app store. Read the instructions completely so it works properly for you.

Its called rooting. It is the same concept a jailbreaking, but with an android based device.

It would be possible to make a portable castle link, but will they do it? I doubt it. It would take too much money to design an app and connector from the phone to the C-Link that allows the phone to recognize the hardware. Maybe in when a phone is released with a usb input it would be more realistic.

That's the word I was looking for, rooted. I rooted a coby kyros mid 7015 touch screen tablet my dad shipped me awhile. It only had the android 2.1 with the app libs store for downloading apps. It now has the android marketplace as well. I didn't upgrade the 2.1 as The hardware doesn't allow this but just having to android marketplace is good enough for me as it opens me up to a lot of apps that I wouldnt have had if I didn't upgrade.

Do you have any idea as to how to turn the Droid into a dial up modem?

I need to make it access a land line.

If the droid is turned on wuth verizon wireless or another carrier and you have internet service on the droid the pdanet by june fabrics will allow you to use the droid to access the internet through your laptop and it don't need to "dial" a specific phone number, it'll be a always on connection o the internet such as the droid is when you open up the browser from within the droid itself.

Yes, I have done that. It's pretty simple.

But that's not what I need it to do.

I need it to be a dial up modem. It needs to dial a land line, then communicate with a computer across it's dial up modem.

My old Nokia could be a dial up modem. I find it hard to believe the Droid won't do it.

Ya I dont know how to do that as companies like verizon require that the internet be turned on with a data plan when you activate the phone. I wish I could turn my old droid incredible on just for phone and texting but I can't because they want me to pay for a data plan.
