Lehner issues. - 10.09.2007, 05:30 AM

Hi all,

I have been searhing the forums for a couple of problems Im having but without luck :(

This has probably been discussed before but I just cant find any info

I have two problems with my Lehner right now:

* My pinions keeps getting loose no matter how hard I tighten the screw
- Has anyone tried making a flat "spot" on the shaft on a lehner with only 4mm shaft? Has anyone tried it on any other motors?

* I have managed to strip the thread on two of the holes in my Lehner.
- Anyone have any advice on how to fix this or advice on how to avoid this from happening to my other holes?

Thanks in advance!

Br,
Håkan J

well i have seen some people use threadlock on the grub screw on pinions.

about the hole threads i would make sure that your machine screws fit snugly into the lehners thread.
I know some m3 machine screws are not a close fit.
Also how deep are your machine screws going into the motor when you mount?

Im going to test using threadlock but I fear I might have a problem when I want to change pinion?

I have measured my screws and cut them so that they should be as long as possible so I dont think thats an issue. I will check the fit on my m3 screws more closely!

I dremel a flat spot on my motor shafts, and I think most other people do as well.

I think you should always use thread lock on the set screw!, I use the red and never have a problem. Then to take it off you can heat the set screw with a soldering iron, or I use a small butane torch.

Ask Mike for his Lehner frontbell cover. You'll never have to worry about stripped holes on your Lehners ever again.

It looks like this.

Works like a charm.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

You def need a flatspot on the shaft. 5 min w/ the dremmel & its done. I (sometimes) use the blue locktite and a good hex driver and haven't had a setscrew come loose since IDK when.

The flat spot needs to be just big enough to give something for the screw to work on. Also, blue lock-tite seems to be strong enough from what I've seen while making it relatively easy to remove.

I agree, only use blue lock-tite... the red stuff will ruin your live!

I would also get that Lehner front bell cover as well, that should fix your problem.

I have also had luck flattening the bottom of the set screw. More contact area I guess. That combined with blue lock-tite.

Any motor without the flat spot on the shaft must get one first thing. O and that front bell cover is sweet, I will call mike for one even though I dont need it.
