very sad savages... - 06.18.2009, 07:20 PM

my buddy got these 2 savage 21s from his friend. his friend bought them new for his kids ran a few times then put in a plastic box and sat in garage. now look at them we picked them up for $50 for the pair.... thinking of converting to brushless....one motor is seized up and every freaking screw is rusted tight
the other one spins but still needs lotsa work. im a electric guy myself with a bl rc18t.

for a non-lipo or lipo setup, this setup is pretty solid now that they have the v2 motor.

http://www.nitrorcx.com/ezrun-brushl...-combo-c2.html

the max cell ratings for the motor and esc are 14cell nimh or 4s lipo. you can get 2 2s lipos for only $20 each and there is a good charger for $38.

http://hobbycity.com/hobbycity/store..._15C_Lipo_Pack
those lipos are actually 20c-30c.

this is the charger i have and it will work for just about all types of batteries.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

That's almost as sad as seeing the neglected and starving children of this world. At least that's what I saw in the pictures. If there would of been an 800 number I would of adopted one for $5 week with a photo of the one I adopted to follow after first payment cleared.

Good luck.

Doesnt have to be BL, especially if its just for kids, and lipo isnt 100% required either given the kid factor. An evx2 or Novak Superduty xr esc would be fine, then a pair of kersaw drill motors (skip the titans, junk motors) and a pair of 6/7 cell nimhs would be ideal.

well there not for kids. i have thought of not going brushless but i really dont like the evx and that ezruns system looks perty good for the price. i dont need massive power.... just better then brushed. i really only wanna run one motor and with brushed i have a feeling id need 2 also im not gunna run lipos u just like nimhs there simple and i understand them better no fancy charger no blowing up and usually cheaper...

I don't trust those motors. IMO just spend the $ and get a medusa 70/80mm and a MMM. Great service from both companies. Far as lipos go- you can get a charger with build in power supply for around $50. Lipo(s) for 1 truck would cost you $50-60 if you go with the turnigy 15c (actually 20c) packs.

No reason why not. Medusa has been very good to me though so I try to recommend their products whenever they'd work.
