single speed revo with nitro engine

I'll probably put a big block LRP Z28 SPEC3 in my revo and i want to eliminated the first speed in the tranny.
So if i remove the first gear and lock the second gear with 4 screw like in this pics, could i use the external mechanical brake??
I suppose that this will did just like a 1/8 scale buggy with a center diff and when i'll relaxe trigger, the tranny will make turn the clutch bell as long as the revo stop?
