Mambas in Antarctica - 05.25.2010, 01:22 PM

We are always amazed at what kind of applications our controllers end up in.

Check it out... This ROV uses 4 x Mamba-25s

Showing the Mamba-25s as installed in the ROV:

Sweet!

I bet there's little concern about heat.

Cool stuff Patrick! Cool to see many other uses for your products as well!

What the hell is in that last picture tho?

I'm not sure what it is. Something that wanders the sea floor...

Very cool, pardon the pun.

I guess it was break time, feet hanging out of tent ?

So Patrick, how did you find out about this? Did they contact you, or did you stumble across it?

The project is called Submersible Capable of Under Ice Navigation and Imaging or SCINI. Here is their website: http://scini.mlml.calstate.edu/

I've seen pictures of stuff at 195m, on that page above, not sure where that critter in the picture is though.

Very cool stuff. And no, no warranty, we donated the first batch, and they paid for 3 during their initial test (read screw-ups) :)

To me it seems the next logical step is to swap the Mamba 25's for MMM's and make the thing go 100mph!

Yep, I've definitely been hanging out around RCM too much...

I'd have to say it's some type of crab, maybe a species of spider crab.
