Novak Replacement Option for (original) HV ESC (P/N 3220)

When the original HV ESC (P/N 3220) is returned for replacement, it is being replaced with a new, on-board programmable version. This replacement version still includes the 4-cell Smart Stop lipo cut off module as a standard accessory.

This repl version contains all the new programming features offered in our new HV Pro controller (P/N 3221). However, this new Pro controller has new PCBs---Lipo circuitry is now built-in and it's been updated with higher voltage transistors. The original HVs are not being replaced with the new HV Pro speed control.

There have been delays in the transition to this upgraded replacement HV. We wanted to add all of the new programming features and we needed to write all new instructions for the programming options for our service customers.

I want to apologize to any of you who have experienced delays in receiving your HV replacements, If any of you have specific questions, let me know and I will get answers for you.

I have a bad hv esc that needs replacing. Is there any way to send it in without your return form? I have no way of printing anything right now.

Just follow the format from the NW form in a letter including all of the required details---especially contact info and CC info. Should not be a problem.

I dont think Novak would warrenty my old original esc, its been through the mill a little ; tough little blighter, served me well.

All original HVs ever shipped can be returned and replaced under our Replacement Options program---just send it in with the Non Warranty service form. The price of the rmf HV itself is $65.

So thats $65 to get a rmf esc basically, if I send my one in? I should post some pics of it before hand, your engineers would have a heart attack if they saw what I've done to it...

If our tech guys had heart attacks looking at such customer returns, we wouldn't have any tech guys left......

Im not worried about returning it for a new one in all honesty; its nearly 4 years old, so all Im gonna do is replace the motors leads, re-instate both sets of battery leads with some deans or trx connectors, and give it a bit of a clean to remove the dirty marks. Then it will be sold on feebay since my MMM is a good one which hasnt died within the 1st few minutes or hours of use. Still, thats a good warrenty system you have, and its a good power system for what it is- looking forward to the next gen of escs and motors from novak.

Some beauty shots of my esc, just for curiosity's sake:

Four of the motor mounting holes are stripped.
Esc has dual caps.
Esc is shorted for single pack operation.
Motor leads have 5.5mm bullets.
On/off lead has been replaced- new wires soldered to pcb, and to switch.
Case is also melted by soldering iron in a few spots.

At least you didn't fry yours by trying to beef up the traces and inadvertantly short a few FETs (it was a rainy, boring day, and all my RCs were actually running- what was I supposed to do?!)...

I probably should send the ESC in for replacement, but I'd want the new HV Pro doo dad, and I don't think I have that kinda money at the moment.

From my understanding; It is possible to do a $65 trade for a non-defective unit?

HV-maxx PRO. higher voltage transistors? do I hear 5/6S capability?

The new HV Pro controller (#3221), shipping out separately and with the newly-released systems, is officially rated for 4s. However, the internal lipo circuit will allow it to be used with 5s lipos, but not 6s. I think that if 6s lipos are hooked up, the esc will not program.

We are still in the prototype stage for the 6s controller---Bob ran the protos for his testing of the new conversion kits.

This is interesting, 5s lipo with the lower kv HV motor (7.5?) sounds like a good system. The lack of internal lvc and programability was keeping me from buying a Novak hv esc. Guess I will have to pick up one.
