The hotel idea works, but I would ship it to someone's house. Less chance for loss if you ask me.
MetalMan and I live about an hour away from Cal Speedway (about 5 minutes or so from one another). Johnny lives close as well. I think a Spektrum would be the best bet, as I've never had a range limit on mine unless I was running a shortened antenna (ripped off in crash). I only think on receiver would be necessary, however.
