My First E-LST2 Conversion Project! - 12.31.2009, 05:16 PM

Hey guys! I'm almost done with my E-LST2 conversion finally! I decided to make it an LST2 rather than the XXL only because they don't make roll cages for the XXL just yet. That and because I know for fact that the New Era roll bar will work on the LST2 if you modify it. The RCSolutions Roll cage works too, but it requires some mods too. And if I were to go that route, I'd likely redo my battery box. The battery box and ESC tray were given to me (thanks Tim!), and he has some ideas for a new design. I do too. The ESC mount is fine as is though.

I have yet to pickup a front sway bar for this truck. I need a set for my Nitro XXL too. They make a big difference! I'm also going to pickup some RCRaven springs as well as a BAC steering link, ProLine BAJA body, New Era Roll bar, and maybe some shock covers too. I also need to clean up the wiring a little bit and may shrink all the leads in black, or use this protective covering that I got at Radio Shack.

I'm still waiting for my RCM pinions, so I have yet to drive the truck. I know I ordered a 23T pinion, as I plan on being geared at 63/23 which should put me in the mid 40mph range. I have some larger spurs to try too. I think the other pinion I ordered from Mike was either a 22 or a 24T pinion. I can't remember! I've got plenty of time to play around with it right now because it's winter time here and I'm not going to be driving it. Of course, I'll be able to check it out a little bit on a clear road, but I'm not going to bash with it. It can't get wet, and the Losi design has way too much access to the insides. But hopefully if it doesn't snow by Saturday, I'll be able to at least test drive it on road! I can't wait!!

I've still got to tweak my battery box a little. And you'll see that I'm using rubber as a battery spacer to keep it from moving around. The battery box idea was supposed to allow for the battery to be removable, but like Tim, I'm not going to take it out of the truck ever. At least not until a new box gets designed! I don't like the idea of charging it on the truck though, just incase something goes wrong and it explodes!
