What are you running it in?

Is the 50mm version good for say an emaxx or should I do the 60mm?

Running it in a rustler. As for your question I'm keeping my mouth shut...there are a butt load more qualified guys on here to answer that.

I'm short one motor right now since I've been waiting 2 months for a 1515/1Y to come into my LHS. I just ordered a 36x50 2200 v2. Hopefully it is in stock and ships out soon so I can finally get my buggy running.

It may have already been answered but how does this run on the Mamba Max with latest firmware being a 4-pole motor? Is it good enough to get by until the MMM's become stable and readily available?

I am not sure I am qualified to answer the question.. But I have a e-maxx and run 6s A123's I selected the 36-60 1600 V2. Although I really wanted to get the 2000KV motor but others had advised me out of that choice.

The Neu motors run pretty well now with both MM and MMM

Emaxx has more gear reduction in the tranny than the 1/8 vehicles.. so that's why people tend to run higher kv with it. But it's all about the final drive ratio/roll out. Lock it in second or run a big pinion, etc....

Cain, depending on what you do with the truck, a 50mm might work. But I'm thinking the 60mm is a much better choice in most cases.

I don't think we really have a grasp on these motors yet... we need more people to run and report. :)

Yes the 50mm will power an E-maxx, very well in fact but I do like my 60mm a bit better. I am now thinking about getting a 70-75mm just to know what each is like.

If you do decide to go with a 50mm get a higher Kv than is normal, and gear down. Let the motor spin and the gears produce the torque.

I'm seriously considering getting one of these. I'm currently running a 10XL, so the 36-60-1600v2 would be pretty much a direct replacement. Of course, they are backordered. The 4 pole and efficiency are what attract me to it, and the price isn't half bad either. I'd love to run one of the castle neu's, but at 2200Kv, that's just spinning too fast for a 6S setup. I'd prefer my rides not to sound like a dentist's drill whizzing by.

I'm wondering if the 1500kv setup woudn't be a bad one? Gearing up shouldn't be a problem. Max rpm would be around 29,000 rpm. Seems kinda on the low side, but I guess being a 4 pole that isn't that low?

The XL is 74 mm though. That's why I got excited at the news of a 70 mm Medusa coming. A quality affordable alternative.

I'll be waiting for the 70mm as well. It will fit right in my MBX5T.

I just received a email letting me know the 036-050-2200V2-5 is backordered and won't ship for 3 weeks. Looks like my buggy won't get it's first run for a while longer now.

The 70mm version might be a good option for my Savage X when it becomes available. The 8XL I'm running now doesn't feel strong enough compared to the same motor in my truggy.

Yeah, that is true. 60mm would probably be pretty good in a buggy, although I know they like torque too.

There is a nice speed chart out there. I used that to determine what pinion I should get for my Emaxx and the Neu 1512 2.5D . The vehicle last night during my initial tests was insanely fast. If the Mamba Monster can stay together, got a real winner here.

I wil most likely go with a 60mm version for sure then of a Medusa when they come in stock.

Looking forward to getting one of these 60mm Medusas. the Neu 2.5D 1512 in my Emaxx ran great, loads of power. The Mamba Monster is one heck of an ESC if it stays together. So far so good. Only let down was the stock traxxas servos, not how they worked mind you, the fact that I popped the stock gears.

Anyway, the 2.5D/F motor I ran with the fins didn't let me get as good of a gearing range as I wanted. Motor ran up to 180F but electronics cool. was however never opening it up, maybe ran half throttle the whole time and no venting. I am thinking the Medusa should be a great choice here for its no fins to give me better gearing range. And leave the Neu for my RC8.

I had another great saturday race night with my Medusa powered 8ight. I love this little motor. After a 30 minute main the motor was about 140F. @ this point I plan to get a 2nd one for my backup car I got the version with the bonded heat sink and hit it with my belt sander in the area by the center diff..
