Well you are going to be the first so let us know...

There is a ex-baja out there but doesn't need/have anything like this...

It might handle ok. Everything will be pretty much centered.

I got a question. Will a 2050 lehner 10T work in a 5B? I was thinking if i ever get one i'd get this esc http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...2carcontroller and run 10s lipo's. Would this setup over do the esc? what pitch are the 5B's? and where would you find the gears if the RC Monster ones will not work?

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

When I get a chance to make a large scale electric, my choices for motor will be the Neu 22XX series. They are easier to get and if they need repair, I can send them to Neu. If the Lehners and Plettenbergs do get more attention (Open a office and service center) and cheaper in the US, then I'll have 3 choices. The Neu 2215/1.5Y 1020Kv should be a perfect motor for 10S and it is right there in price with the Lehner 2280. Mega should make a motor to compete with the big guns, but they still have to be sent to the Czech for repairs.

hehehe ... 8000 Watt and 2 wheel driven. I don't think you will ever be able to put this amount of power to the ground. A lehner 3040 is not needed. Some german guys converted 1:5 touring cars with a Lehner 2250. Wheighing 13.9KG (30.4lbs) they were able to reach 95mph (145km/h). With a 10S/3P 4000 lipo they needed 125-160A while accelerating (around 4.5-5.5KW input). From 0 to 95mph in 4.8 seconds. They used a prototype ESC from BK -> Cool 250/40 250Amp/ 40 cell Nimh.

MGM 12032 Car/Boat should provide up to 5.5KW. I guess this should suffice to outaccelerate any Baja with the hottest modified gas engine. Runtime will be the biggest drawback on an electric version and/or the cost to get a pack with enough mah (>10000mah+).

Wheightwise a Neu 1527 is comparable to a Lehner 2250. With a Neu 22X (Bam) you would be on the safe side.

thats the biggest prob. i dont care how much the buggy weights. your not gonna put that much tq down. It would make a hell of a speed run car. but it would be soo big you would need to drive next to on the freeway
you would be better of finding the biggest 1/8 mt and converting that. Or find one of those 1/5 trucks.(but i think most if not all of them are 2wd also)

I'm trying to get one of those 4WD 5th scale vihicles. I spoke with one factory overseas and they sounded very interested, but haven't heard much from them. If they do send me one, I'll be buying a SHV controller as well to run it with 20S lipos, not because of the power, but to keep the run times close to 20 minutes.

How about a cheaper route than spending thousands....

Turnigy HV esc...$100
KB45XL 700kv....$55
Two Zippy-R 6s 4500mah at $160 each

Total cost $475.00 and plenty of power for a baja 5b.

yeah, you're gonna need voltages in the 80-100v range (21s-27s) to keep current down if you really want 8kw. The question becomes: where are you gonna get such a controller???

Another option would be using two regular HV systems (two of the ones BOOGIE listed) - one on each wheel. You might have a tough time syncing them up, but that can be done via channel mixing.

SHV is as good as you can get. They are coming out with the 250 amp version and 20S capable.

I now know the place that sells the SHV, but I still haven't heard from Patrick if it'll be possible for a simple car software. I called him again today, but forgot he went to China. I know another company will be making a 20S controller as well, but I'll have more info on that in 8-10 weeks.

Yeah, well, it's not out yet - but I'm sure it's "coming soon".

The SHV110 is out. I thought it was a joke when I saw the site and forgot about it, but when jzemaxx said something about it in the other thread, I knew then it wasn't a joke. I'm just waiting to see if Patrick says OK, for the simple car sotware and I'll get some.
