My guess is yes... some guys are claiming to have weedwacker Bajas with 7hp so I guess a 10hp electric would be ok.

your probably going to be looking at some custom pinions too. Which lehner motor are you looking at?

Savage: FLM Conversion, 6s, MMM, CC 1520.
Mini-T Pro: Micro Pro 6800kv, Lipo, HS-81mg, Dirt Hawgs
M18MT: Quark 33A, Y22S 6000kv, FP 2s Lipo
LRP S8-BX: RC-M Conversion, Tekin RX8 B1600KV, 6S.

be prepared to spend lots of money on batteries....... it should hand the motor fine.. I know the FD guys are using the 3040...

you're going to have a lot of custom work ahead of you my friend... as I am/been working on the 1/5th brushless for a while...

Yes i know !

But that's the fun part ! to fab motor and battery mounts and so on !
Woud a 12s flightpower 5000mah be enough ? to get like 25min of runtime ?

When Aqwut meant lots of money on batteries, he meant lots. If you want 25min. of solid run time you will need a 12S2P or maybe 3P specially with the kind of power you want to put out. Try a 12S2P set up first and if that's not enough go with 3P, but your weight will be close if not more then 30 pounds.

If you are looking for 8000 watts, you will probably need a bigger pack than that. 8000 watts at 44.4v is 180+ amps. I personally think tht would be pushing the 5000 cells a bit. But tecnically its within the specs of the 40C burst limit. so it should work.

As for run time... Who knows??? There isnt alot of data around yet for runtime on huge, heavy, high voltage setups like that. If I were a betting man I'd say no on the 25 minutes, but thats just a guess.

I can't decide if its more fun
to make it...
or break it...

Why not go with 20S . Wait for the SHV and get yourself those 4900-5000mAh 37V packs from TP, FP or KP and go with a Neu 2230/2Y 365Kv or a 2215/3Y 480Kv.

Anything is possible, but I don't think you will do this with only $3K. It sounds like you are going to have to go big and $3K may get you started with batts, and a good motor, but that kind of power is going to kill your truck and show you weak points in your rig that have never seen BL power. Batteries alone will probably run you in the $1K to $2K range for that level of voltage and mah with enough amperage to do the 6000 or 8000 watts. Personally I hope you find ways to do it for $2K. This project sure does sound like a lot of fun though. I was thinking about getting an XTM MMT myself and converting it. So your leading the way for ideas. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. Good luck with that.

You know if you live in like California or similar you cna get a pretty good rebate from the state and even more from the federal gov for purchasing an electric car, which in turn will reduce the total cost of the Tesla at $106K

I'll be more than happy to take the $5000 and show you what that kind of money can do to a 1/5 scale vehicle .

Well you could do :

- 20S 3P A123 for $480
- Motor 3080 Lehner $800 (note rated to 50V not 66V but hey CC overvolts well or do 15s 4P)
- ESC Hydra 240HV $450

Custom water coolering - just use a PC water kit and you're done for under $2k
