I have two Lehners and both are of outstanding quality. Too bad they are no longer offered in the US (by a reputable seller). I will not buy from Fine Designs. Period. I have a project coming up where I need something bigger and badder than a 1940/7 (what I have now) and was going to do a 1950 or 22xx motor from Lehner, but have decided to get a Neu 1521 because I can buy the Neu through Mike.

However, if you run across a Lehner (that seems to be in good condition), it may be worth swiping up. They are very nice motors.

But for now, I think your best bet would be a Neu or Medusa.

Edit: Now there are two more posts that made it before me, I'd like to add to them.

As Squee said, Lehners are of outstanding quality and some prefer them over the Neu. I am probably one of those people. If given the choice, I would take a Lehner but both are great motors. The Lehners are 2 pole motors and tend to do better when pushed into the high RPMs (easier on the controller as well). They also have less drag as well. I like having a neutral handling vehicle so minimal motor drag is important to me.
