On the Track - 12.21.2009, 03:38 AM

Got my truck on the track today and I was very impressed. It handled and felt more like a smaller/lighter 1/8 scale buggy. My truck was probably over powered, but I am used to it (ran the same setup in my CRT.5) and was able to control it. There were several new Slash 4x4's, 1/8 buggy/truggies and regular SC trucks on the track (open practice). The Slash 4x4 was pretty nice and it was close in speed/handling to the Jammin. The best thing was being able to hang with the 1/8 buggy/truggies. Until one took exception and blasted me in one of the high speed sweepers and took out my rear bumper. Pro Chad Bradley was at the track the day before running his Jammin SCRT10 and was just smoking everyone. I had so much fun with my Jammin my SC10 never left the car and my 1/8's barely got used.

Wheels/tires Update - 12.22.2009, 03:29 AM

The stock wheels/tires actually worked pretty well on the blue groove track I run on. But it was bugging me that I couldn't use the Slash proline wheels/tires (I have several new sets). So I was sitting there and I remembered that on my CRT.5 I ran Associated truck wheels by removing the 12mm hex and just using the pin. "Light Blub" well I have some old Proline Bead Loc's off my SC10 sitting right there so I pulled off the hexes and the installed the SC10 wheels. They actually fit pretty good, and cleared the body (at least in the track). I am not sure how they will clear in the up/down range when the suspension bottoms out since they are bigger in diameter. The larger size may also require regearing and will effect the handling (higher CG, more mass, etc.) but I will try to get out on the track this weekend and run some tests.

Tires (Stocker on left, Proline SC10 on the right)

Here is a shot of the axle with the hex removed

Parts, need to add a few spacers, otherwise when you tighten the wheel it will bind on the carrier.

Bumper - 12.23.2009, 12:18 AM

As I mentioned in an earlier post the first day out on the track I had a little accident and broke the front upper bumper support. It's been kinda slow at work this week so I figured while I was waiting for a replacement I could see if I could throw something together using some spares I had laying around. I had previously used a Slash front bumper on my 1/8 buggy SC conversion, it is pretty easy to adapt to other trucks, it is pretty tough and I had an extra one. So I took some scrap aluminum I had left over from some skids I made and put together a new front bumper for my Jammin using the Slash bumper. As a bonus I got a front skid plate as well. It took me a hour or so to make the parts and it bolted on without issue. The Slash bumper is very solid and has a built in shock absorber, unfortunetly it sits about 1/2 too high in relation to the body, oh well.

Here are the parts required, Slash bumper and some 6061 aluminum scrap.

Here it is with the body on.

Dang that is a sweet looking rig! If I picked up a short course truck, this would be it! I bet the 1509 is a screamer.

How much room do you have on the chassis for the battery? I am wondering if a 6s 2500mah system pack could lower the CG.

If I remember correctly the stock Batt tray interior dimensions are 6"x1"x2". My custom tray is a little more open and allows for a larger battery all the way around. Where you have an issue is if you go too wide you run up onto the mudguard mounting bumps. You are right about the low mah 6s it would probably be smaller/lower. But I have a bunch of 3s I recovered from my dead 4 and 5s 5000mah Zippy's.

Well I don't own a Slash but I do have an SC10 so here they are for a size comparison.
