Got my 70 & 80 mm Medusa's today.

The 70mm was ok & in the box , but, the 80mm was the wrong kv printed on the box as opposed to what's printed on the motor. Was supposed to be 2000kv & 1600kv was on the motor.

I emailed Medusa & apparently a bunch of the 2000kv's were incorrectly labled. Anyone else experienced this?

How can I check it to satisfy my peace of mind?

Yep, best to direct solder in fact.

As for testing the kv, difficult without an rpm spinning guage thingy. If you set up the vehicle for a certain speed (say 40mph), then run the truck with the motor, it should be fairly evident if its the right kv or not- if its 1600kv on 4s lipo it wont be terribly nippy compared to a 2000kv on the same voltage and gearing.. (GPS or radar gun would help).

Well I'm thinking of purchasing a Medusa motor to go with my LT ESC after *ahem* burning up the stock setup in my E-Revo

I was looking at the 70mm ones, but is it me or are the charts on the motors page all wrong? As I don't want to end up with the wrong motor! They are pretty pricey too, it had better last!

You think Medusa's are pricey?...sorry but no way...they are 4 pole and there reputation is awesome...haven't read anything derogatory about them that I can remember

Well, I'm used to smaller scale setups so all this MT stuff is a little pricey compared to the 1/10th stuff. I'm used to paying £40 for a motor :P

lol...I understand then....main thing you have to remember is

speed is expensive....how fast to you want to go?

in my opinion......for the money, efficiency and durability........I don't think you can find a better system than the MMM combo...here at RCM mike sells this system for $279...it will save you money in the long run.....I just bought this system from mike and its so impressive out of the box......the stuff just looks and feels like quality built stuff and has proven itself so far

The stock setup on the E Revo and E maxx is pretty sad. They are geared to fry Nimh batteries and burn up in my opinion.

The Medusa Motors are great. Grab yourself a 36-70-2000kv along with the heatsink, put it on 4S and go.

Great setup!

I'm running both the 1500kv and the 2000kv in the 60mm can and couldn't be more pleased. Both pushing around an Emaxx and an E Revo.

I'm waiting for the stock to show up on the 70mm and the 80mm versions. I have to give those a try also.

The price of the large can Medusas is really good when you compare it with a Neu or even a Mega. The only reason I bought a Mega was because Medusa didn't have a large can motor. Neu isn't an option for me because all I do is bash, and Feigao is... well you know.

That is true, I nearly died when looking up the price of a Neu

Even with the old, better exchange rate they are still ridiculously expensive.

Yeh stuff does get expensive in the large scale. I just look to the left of me and think, hmm I could have bought a new 1/10th TC for drifting instead of a single neu motor, or the lipos that go with it.

It is all part of the fun.... at least that is what I keep telling myself. :D

I have to say I'm really impressed with the 70mm medusa. I'm running the 1600kv one in my hyper on 6S A123 and it just refuses to heat up. I was flying around the yard for a good while last night and when I went to go in I touched the motor and it was just warm, not hot at all, and that's with no heatsink. A cup of coffee would be hotter. Love 'em!

I dont suppose you've tried that same motor in your maxx yet by any chance, with the same batts? Im really having issues deciding between a 1600 or 2000kv 80mm motor for my truck; I could get the 2000 and gear it down, but I'd still be a little concerned about a motor that fast (on 5s) running a bit hot and needing cooling down brakes still. If I opted for the 1600kv, it would run cooler for sure on 5s, but according to my calculations I would struggle to see ~40mph without running something like 24/56 gearing, though tire balloonage (love them jumbo clawdawgs!) would help abit.

'Tis a tricky one....

I've been actually having the same problems...

I'm getting a Thunder Tiger ST-1 Pro soon and I'm sure that I'll be getting the Medusa 36-80. But do I get the 1600 or 2000kv??? lol

Grrr, where's the 1800!?!?!

Voltage seems to be my main issue really- I have set myself up with 5s lipos and 6s A123 packs (equal to 5s lipo), so I really need an 1800kv motor ideally too. If you havent bought your batts or esc yet, then 6s lipo is ideal for the 1600kv motor and the MMM or another 6s esc. Otherwise, I would suggest 4s lipo and 2000kv with the MMM or some other beefy esc for a big truck/truggy etc. The MMM+2200kv motor system would also be ideal for 4s lipo, maybe 5s lipo, but 6s would be too much usually for an MT.

I have a 5S 4900mah 25C Zippy-R and MMM now and really don't want to go under 5S. IDK, 4S just seems too low for me. lol

I'm thinking of going 1600kv and gearing up because that's the most popular thing to do, but having the extra 400kv with the 2000 would just be sooo fast!!! I like fast.
