Brushless Hellfire Truggy - 06.01.2007, 11:18 PM

I have recently acquired most of a HPI Hellfire truggy roller and will be using this thread to track my new conversion. It'll be a while before any real progress is made, but gotta start somewhere. :)

First question; does the Hot Bodies Lightning Stadium mount work on this truggy? I don't mind doing a little modding to the center diff, but would rather not drill new holes in the chassis.

I don't know about the mount. But, I am glad that you are doing a Hellfire conversion, as I have always really liked this rc for some reason... so I'll really be looking forward to the conversion and finished product. Good luck!! :)

Brian; Help is on its way; Mike and I have got one too, we both bought the SS kit, and the motorplate is different, as well as a brace for the rear-side.

The problem is the upperdeck. it needs a rear-brace if you convert one, and the motor needs to be on the other side of the diff than the nitro. (otherwise the lipo's don't have enough space.)

Nice choice Brian. I have always wanted a Hellfire, they are just so cool looking. What kind of setup are you planning on running?

Not really sure what's going to go in it as I don't have it yet, but it is coming. It's "pre-owned" so I already got some parts I needed. I knew about the chassis braces, but everything else is a mystery to me until I have it in my hands.

For a motor, probably a Neu. Not sure if I want to go 4s on ~2000kv motor, or 5s on ~1800kv motor. Also not sure if I want the 1515 for extra torque or the 1512 for snappiness.

For the ESC, I dunno. It depends what is currently out at the time. Otherwise, probably another Quark 125B.

I would find a way to get rid of the "spend 2 hours removing 50 screws" double deck radio plate.

I would also research this truck (on google) as many people have had durability issues with it and I believe cures are posted places.

I'm sure the tray will be modified or even removed. It's just too big to keep in one piece! Once I get it in and take a look, I'll do the research like you suggest.

I got some of the extra parts I ordered from an eBay chop shop in the mail today - things I knew were removed from the truck: new shocks, swaybars, wheel hubs, and front CVDs. I also got a screw kit since the ones on there will be dirty and maybe even partially rusty.

Serum: I fully plan on making some type of new front/rear brace, unless Mike comes up with something instead. :)

I'm anxious to start this one. If all goes well, it may just replace the Revo. Not really sure on that though, as the Revo is quite a solid truck now that I've addressed all the weak areas. Haven't broken anything in quite a long time now.

Maybe one of you Hellfire guys would be interested in a body I painted?
It's a HPI Hellfire Body (7198 DRX), note the lack of nitro holes, perfect for BL conversions :)

PM me if interested. Any other special requests welcome!

Cheers
