Hey all,

I am in need of some custom ESC mounting plates for a project I am working on. I don't have the tools or equipment to cut my own shapes so I contacted a company called www.wetjetprecision.com to see if they could cut aluminum shapes to my specifications and at a reasonable cost.

I drafted the plans and sent them off to Wet Jet. I was shocked that they came back with a price of $24 for two ESC mounting plates delivered. Not to mention I sent them the plans on Sunday and they shipped my parts this morning. Talk about fast! Reasonbly priced too.

BTW...they cut carbon fiber and graphite too.

Yeah...the thing I like so far is their follow through...they return phone calls, emails, and even cut the parts before I gave them my credit card info. Granted I haven't received the parts yet so the jury is still out, but I am happy so far.

Hmmm, interesting. I sent that info to Mike. If cheap enough (in bulk), it might help him by outsourcing some of his CNC products...

I will post pics of their work when I receive the shipment. It was a very simple design...basically a plate with some slots and holes in it. However, it would have been difficult for me to make it look "clean" with the tools and equipment I have on hand. Another note: I made the plan in Corel Draw 10 and exported the file to an Auto CAD file...had no idea if they could open it...but they were able to convert it to a workable format. They also mentioned that if I were to order more, that they would offer a price break. I really like it because they have the materials on hand or will cut what you send them. Not to mention....customer service so far has been exemplary.

Please post pics once you have them. By looking at their name, it is a water-jet cut method, correct?

I had a chassis laser cut (for the lightning of Ryan) which was made from 3mm thick 7075 aluminum and the price was only around 70 bucks!

That's a fantastic price too...especially given that your job was probably a lot more complicated than what I had done.

Here is a pic of the ESC mounting plate that I had wetjet cut for me. Overall I am satisfied...but the cuts weren't quite as smooth as I was expecting. Certainly for the price and for the application, it was a heck of a deal. When I get back home I will post a pic of the plate without the electronics mounted to it. BTW, I have an extra if anybody is interested in it.

Yes they use water to cut...which to my surprise doesn't come out as smooth as CNC. To some of you guys this may be of no surprise...but to me it was something new. I guess I just figured that the h20 would achieve a much cleaner cut...

Good question...I am actually on travel for work and the CAD file is on my PC at home. I'll be home tomorrow night and can post dimensions and a pic of the "raw" part. I will say this...it was designed to fit perfectly on the FLM chassis without getting in the way of the battery trays or other components.

After reading this thread, I sent them a CAD file and had some pieces cut for a crawler chassis. I've been wanting to make my own TVP chassis for a while, but had no way of making both sides identical. They have awesome customer service, kept in touch with me from start to finish.

The scratches are from me doing some filing. The edges were a little rough, but it is a non issue for me.

Thank you for posting about this company, I will probably sending them more files in the future.

Water jet cutters actually use a fine grit in the water for the cutting, the edges look like they were sandblasted.
