What was your gearing...and was you gear mesh okay? I keep my gear mesh a little farther apart than some folks...just a hair. But it helps the gears spin with less resistance. Not trying to insult your intelligence but I once saw a guy that had the motor pinion pressed up against the spur so hard that the car would barely move!
That would definitely put some strain on the motor and ESC. I'll get some screen shots of my MGM settings in the next day or so and post them...but in all honesty, I didn't really adjust too much...I think just the battery and brake.
