You can over rev the motors in the air if your setup is pushing the motor's rpm limit. But, if you get the correct setup, it shouldn't be a problem. The lehner equivalents to the 9L at 10L would be the Basic XL2800/2400 respectively.

I would suggest going with the 10L or a fiegao 7XL for the benefit of more torque and a 5mm shaft that should hold up better in a bigger truck.
