Pinion help for Crtx1

Hey guys I'm building a crtx1 with feiago 9xl w/heat sink, MM esc and bec and 4s lipo and all the rest is rc monster parts. I'll be using the kyosho 46t plastic spur and a 12 mod1 pinion. Does that sound like a good place to start? It's going to be a all around play toy. Any other tips would be sweet Thanks

Theres a top speed calculator in the link he posted

You need to adust your gearing to get 35-40mph... This is a good target speed for a track... You could go up to 45mph if you are just bashing.

But best to start a bit low gearing wise, check temps on everything and gear up slowly. It costs a bit more in pinions but will save more in the long run.

Not sure i follow 5.8 are proline CF's - Badlands are a little bigger maybe 6 and change but that is more for bashing?

I actually want to race and play ,I guess I need two different set ups. I have bad lands and some regular proline race tires. I had already ordered a 12t pinion to start. Is that bad?

It's a very good place to start, imo... especially for the track.

If you are bashing in the street and want it to be really fast then you will want some bigger pinions.

Lol sorry, just me being an idiot. I didn't realise I hilighted a tire circumference measurement... I thought you'd input an 18in tire diameter. My Bad!!

fwiw the a lot of the truggy wheels are still a bit smaller than 5.8".. proline's truggy LPR series for example are 5.25"
