where do i buy them plugs for my hyperion charger? - 04.22.2008, 03:40 AM

just recieved my hyperion 0606i ac/dc and to my surprise, it did not come with them plugs to charge my batteires! the plugs im talking about is the black and red bullet connector that goes on the right side of the charger. im not even sure what their called so i dont know how to look for them so i can purchase one. can anybody help me out here...i prefer to get it at tower since my buddy is already ordering something from there, but anywhere will be fine...the cheaper place the better. i want one thats already assembled with the wires so all i need to do is install my dean connectors. i think i need 12g wires.

thanks for your help

It's no special connector, pretty sure they're just any old banana plugs you could get from any electronics or hifi store. The better quality ones are gold plated and a tighter fit and can no doubt have less resistance (this is a good thing - go for expensive gold ones).

If you want to buy something already made up I'm pretty certain http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXNCU4&P=ML will fit. FWIW 12ga is probably overkill for charging, I have the hyperion 0610i duo (12s 360W) and they recommend 14ga wires less than 200mm long.

thats odd..my instructions for the 0606i recommended me 12g chare wires. oh well. i was just looking at those great planes one. tower doesnt say if they are 4mm banana plugs though so i need to make sure its 4mm so itll fit.

I think banana plugs are pretty standard - they all seem to be 4mm spring connectors.

The charger does indeed use 4mm plugs. The ones that come with the MM system work if you have some spares. Don't get the regular ones from RadioShack as they are not coated and the spring is weak. Stick with ones from your LHS or similar design.

You don't "need" 12GA wires to charge. 14-16GA is perfectly fine (actually still overkill) for up to 15A charge rates as long as the wires are under 1 foot.

PS leads should come in the box just without a deans on the end... You might want to give a call to the person that sold you it...

^^^^^ Ditto!! Was supposed to be there. My 1st Hyperion arrived with one of the end caps left off and I had to return the whole unit. The place I bought mine said they had seen it all from Hyperion, so there were no questions.
