Mine is an older Weller. Every so often, I check to make sure the nuts that hold the tip are tight. If they get the least little bit loose, performance goes down. When I notice its not heating like normal, thats the first thing I check and make sur ethey are tight.

My Weller gun is better than 25yrs old and I'm using the 2nd tip. They last a long time if cared for.
