no, not frequency issue.

why futaba pcm receiver can't take mmm esc, becase the futaba pcm receiver inside pcm decoder ASIC out voltage level too low.
ppm high signal is 2.2~2.3V but mmm can't identify it is high.

so how to solve problems, just put a fail-safe unit in ch2, that's level go on 5v mmm can take and Run fine.

and why not use 2.4g or DSM receiver because range issue.

Just finished running my truck with a fm receiver and it runs great so I don't think I ever had a problem with the monster. I think it was a frequency issue with my pcm reciever.
