i asked CC about extending the wires on the switch to get it to a more meaningful location. i didn't want to void warranty either. this is what the man wrote:

"As long as you don't solder on the controller itself you're set. You'd
have to splice the wire into the existing wires.

That's exactly what I did to have my switch inside the RX box .



The switch is between the two screws in front of the gray rx box.
