Good E Revo shock Setup?

I went with the orange and gold on my revo. Basically the revo platinum setup. Add the Traxxas sway bars. It makes a world of difference in the handleing. The thing handles almost like a truggy with the sway bars.

I have the tekno sway bars, do you think they are worth a try?

Since my erevo was built from parts, I hapened to have the black steel pushrods that go with the p3 rockers. I have p2 rockers on right now, and had the pushrods on the outer holes on the lower a arms. I moved them to the center hole and the ride height is much better. Then I dialed out some preload from the front, and it sits level. Suspension action feels better too. This is with the orange and gold springs. It has a fair amount of down travel (droop), so I can see that sway bars would help.

Of the three sway bars included with the tekno kit, which should I start with? I figured the medium sized on both ends...???

I normally run the Orange/gold combo also, and have the same issue with the super soft rear on the revo (thats why i started that suspension re-awakening thread). I recently tried the purples on the rear, and while it helped with the sag, the truck was all over the place. I put new GTR Ti shocks on yesterday. It is still soft, but the action is much improved. I think that I also used to skip on the shock oil which probably had some effect. I hated having it drip out, so I'd just not put as much in - I think the system relies on having it at maximum capacity.

How did you "dial out preload"? Just curious.

I'd start with the middle sized sway bar. You can also play with roll over/balance by changing which hole the uppper hinge pins are in.

You gotta make sure the shocks are full of oil! Any amount of air will just about eliminate any dampening abilities of the shock. No wonder they were bouncy!

When filling them, work the piston slowly to get all the air bubbles out - let the shock sit for ~10 minutes opened to allow the bubbles to rise and pop. Refill to the top and put the cap on. Even if they get overfilled, when you screw the caps on, any overflow comes out the little overflow hole in the cap.

Also, with stiffer springs, you NEED thicker oil and/or pistons with smaller holes. Too thin and you'll get too much bounce. Too thick and the shocks won't articulate enough.

I had quite a bit of preload on the front and rear to get the ride height up. When I moved the pushrods to the center hole on the lower a arms it raised the ride height quite a bit. So I moved the preload collars back and the suspension felt better, not as stiff. I need to check the shock oil and see if they are full of oil or not.

What weight oil should I use? I guess that all of the traxxas silicone oil is the same, I have plenty of that...
