8ight With 8ight-t Chassis...

Looking For A New Winter Time Project And Was Wondering If Anyone Has Built An 8ight Buggy Using The 8ight-t Truggy Chassis....should Be A Direct Bolt On But I Sold Off My 8ight-t Before I Could Check...

A limo buggy, or a four passenger buggy. Everything is the same as far as bolt hole placement.

You might have trouble fitting the body on, since the chassis lengthens the wheelbase by a good 1-2 inches.

just looking for a new project and since my 8ight is by far the most durable rc i've ever had i wanted to make a mini muggy-type truck out of the buggy.....or better thought i'll just get an 8ight-t and make a Muggy-type truck out of that.....hmmmm....i've owned both the muggy and the 8ight-t......the muggy is good BUT its fricking HUGE!!!....and everytime I jump it I cringe b/c 12lbs. falling on one rear-hub carrier or 12lbs. landing on its lid it not a pretty site....the 8ight-t was cool but i wanted something with a little more ground clearance....maybe a 8ight-t with muggy shocks????....IDK i'm rambling now.......whaddaya think?....i think a truck body on an 8ight-t might look cool.....kind of like a "semi-muggy"...hmmm

You should really look into the erevo.. I race truggys every week and blow right past them.. you can have the look and feel of the truggy or the MT depending on your shock setup and a few other tweaks.. a few minor mods and it's super durable as well.

Keep in mind that with the E-revo you have to use 2 separate packs which can be a pain.

I raced it all summer.. it wasn't a pain at all with two batteries. Actually it takes more time doing a battery swap in a velcro single pack conversion (my e-8ight) vs the doors on the erevo. It isn't a ton faster but it is for sure faster. Not to mention lots of cheap 28c and 30c 2s 5k lipos around now (enerland (polyquest) and SMC being a few). It's a great format iMO. 1/2 the drivers at the track were debating on changing over... lol.

I just don't get how you wouldn't run into lipo problems with two separate packs. Even if you packs are only separated by 100 mah from one another, it deosn't take much time for one pack to hit the critical voltage after the cells were able to sustain 3.5 volts under a full load.

I guess it really comes down to whether you are racing or bashing. For racing, quick change batteries come in handy, but it cleans things up and reduces weight to use a single pack.

If there was a problem running two packs people would be really PO'd! How many E-REVOs and E-MAXXs are out there with high power BL setups running 2 Lipos? I'm gonna say thousands just from the users on here! Where does 3.5 volts come into play? The minimum voltage for Lipo is 3.0v and most run the lvc at 3.2v per cell to allow a little safety margin. What is the weight savings of a single 5000mah 6s pack versus 2 5000mah 3s packs? I'm guessing it's only the weight of the extra connector and wire off the second pack.

whoa!!!...i think you're both saying the same things but in different languages :) lol....i used to have an e-maxx that i ran with two packs and i now have both a muggy and an 8ight that i run with 1 pack....pros and cons for both but i won't list them just to stay on topic AND i appreciate both of your advice :) ....AND i've decided to get another 8ight roller and do the following:
-50t losi spur gear
-11t pinion gear
-front diff=7k center=10k rear=5k
-mugen axle hub carriers (http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/7535 i use these in my 8ight-t/muggy for a wider wheel base
-custom body posts mounted on the front/rear shock towers
-proline chevy silverado truck body for the revo 2.5
-proline wheels with badlands 17mm
-my spare MMM running on 5s lipo with my spare neu 1515 2.5d
-i'll post pics of the build once everything is in and it should look pretty sweet!!! kinda like a more durable/faster/4wd/stampede hybrid :)

I've been running duel lipo's setups for ages on different builds (4,s, 6s, & 8s) and I've never had any issues with them at all..

If you never have had them, how can you diss them ?? whatever..

3.5 volts is a safe bet on the voltage a lipo cell will hold under a typical load near the end of a run. If one pack is 100 mah behind another pack in terms of remaining capacity, one pack could read 3.5 volts/cell and the other could read 2.9 volts/cell when the cuttoff is hit. I can't proove this actually happens, but from my experience, lipos "lose it" almost suddenly when they are about to run out of mah. The pack that "loses it" first may become damaged over time and lose charge capacity quicker than the other pack.

Weight savings:

extra battery compartment/box - 2-3 oz
8 inches less wire and 2 less connectors - 1 oz
Heatshrink of the second pack and any hardware to mount everything < 1oz

So about 1/4 lb maybe? Maybe in a truggy weight isnt all that important, but it's just something to think about.
