Does it roll freely forward and backward when the pinion is disengaged?

With your reverse being better than forward, there is a chance that the switch on the transmitter was backwards. I would verify that from the manual.

Also, you were on the right track with recalibrating the esc. It's too bad there was something else wrong with it.

Thanks for the reply. The transmitter was 3pm 2.4g. Receiver FF.
Strangely my 3905 emaxx i needed to set the throttle to reverse, but the erevo I did not need to.

I noticed that when I lifted the erevo and ran the car full speed the car was shaking pretty much, almost violently, and my friends , also new, erevo was shaking as well, but much less.

I was all set to recalibrate.... My friend already smoked his evx2 by pressing the button when it was on and I accidently did the same and boy it melted bad. The 4s2p (2x4AH) zippy-Rs toasted the esc and wires to melted solid copper and until one of the esc wires "vaporized" to dust.

BTW: I got the esc set up like neil said -> jumper & ... It was running "well" except for less forward speed for almost 50 min. Then I changed lipos and decided to try recal.... boom. Anyway ..Time for mmmv3 2200 anyway...waiting waiting waiting... just worries me about the lack of forward speed and the possibility of mechanical trouble...

Oh -- another hint...The titans were getting very very hot and the esc was shutting down twice due to heat.

I'm going to scavenge my emaxx evx2 to the erevo and see how it runs. Wish me luck ...hope i dont need it..

My friend was running exactly same setup. No problems at all. His erevo was running excellently... he ran through 2 pairs of lipos.
