18T uses .5 metric pitch, 48 pitch gears are close and will work, but I would not do it, as it can cause a bit more drag on the gears. Just get the right gears, lots of people make them.

The long Hyperion motors are supposed to be good, I think the diameter should be OK, check that the length will fit though.

You're right. My mistake on the gear pitch. Deleted my previous post so it won't cause any confusion.
