3s 6000mah Maxamps with 1 bad cell... - 11.07.2008, 01:21 PM

Would you take the pack appart, find the faulty cell and remove it to use the pack as a 2s or just get rid of it?

A 3s maxamps 6000 packs actually has 6 3000 cells in there. 3 pairs of 2 cells are wirred in parallel to give the 6000 rating and those pairs are then wired in series to make 3s.

My experience is that 2 of the 6 cells are bad, one most likely puffed and killed the cell that was wired in parallel to it. You can take the pack apart and make a 2s pack out of it, but maxamps resistance welds/crimps their tabs together and they are difficult to work with. The taps are very fragile, and tear off easily. Have a look at the link in my signature below for more lipo info. I have repaired and reconfigured many maxamps packs, due to cell death....
