I just cant say 30 years from now when were getting older, the tattoo will be what it was now. Its a permanent thing. Make damn sure you want it!

I was also raised in a family that is STRONGLY against tattoos, and piercings.

I had wanted a tattoo for years, just never really knew what or where but I agree with what some people have said though, you really need to be DAMN sure that if you get one, that is it something that you will be able to live with for the rest of your life.

I have had my tattoo for almost a year now, and I have zero regrets. Mind you I do have other reasons for getting it over just 'wanting' one (which I won't talk about) but I am very happy that I did get it.

I do also agree that it seems that more and more people are just getting tattoos just for the sake of having one, or almost because they have the urge to just fit in with the 'crowd'. I just strongly suggest that you really do think long and hard about this decision.

btw, here is a pic of mine,

I'm hoping they come out with some kind of degrading ink. Make it so after ~5 years it's totally gone, I think it would be a big hit with people that want one but are heeding the good advice of people saying not to make a hasty decision.

A friend of mine had his wife's name tattooed on his left arm by his shoulder, 4 months ago she took his son and ran and the tattoo is a horrible reminder of how a permanent tat can go really bad.

All I ever wanted was an honest weeks pay for an honest days work.

i was against a tattoo before i had mine. I actually gave in to the pressure of my fiancee' and got one. I got it on my left chest and got something small just to be sure it wont haunt me later. I don't regret and am actually looking to get another across my back just like the one pictured just not the same design. Just be careful cause they can get addicting and that gets really expensive. Just start out small and discrete and you will be fine.

Here are my rules of thumb for tattoos. Please don't take any of this personally. I just feel that a tattoo is deeply personal, and not just an accessory like a hat or watch. You are permanently inking your body and others WILL judge you based on its appearance, location, message (if any), etc... trust me. You should be aware of all the good and bad things that can result from having tattoo and be ready to accept any, and all, consequences of your decision. That being said...

1) If you're unsure what to get, or whether it will be "cool" or not... don't get it.
2) If you are doing it for someone other than yourself... don't get it.
3) If you have any doubts... don't get it.
4) If you have to ask... definitely don't get it.

Now, when if & when you are ready. Flow Mike_D's advice... do your research, find a good artist, and spend some cash on it. Artists all have their strengths and weaknesses, so if you want a picture of your girl tattooed on your ass, don't hire the guy who's portfolio consists of only flowers, bunnies, and barbed wire. Lastly, if you do decide to get one in the end... good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Well, yes . . . . except for the very tastefully added centaur theme and popular rainbows for "conversation" on select RC-Monster forum threads.

That skit was one of the best pieces of comedy ever.

I thought you would especially like it since it has rainbows.
