The glue is probably the equivalent of Arctic Silver. It's thermal epoxy, which is why it took so much heat to get it to soften up. I wouldn't mess with it on a working unit; too much risk involved.

you could use q-tips and easy off to strip the anodizing and end up with a silver heatsink, would that match?

I think I will just leave it on

Car is purple I wont worry about it. I can always buy something else. Maybe a Tekin later on.
