Here's the 44t spur gear:

About the pinions - 5mm is 5mm so I have no idea why you're having trouble. I've never heard of anyone having this challenge. Sounds like the wrong size.

Ok thanks, Novak says their pinions are hardened so they "should" work with the metal spur? Not sure how noisy it should be though.

Yes, I run the 44t on mine. You have to slightly modify the holes, but not much at all. Just a small round file will do. I've had mine on for over a year and never a drop of leaking.
