i dont know if anyone else has noticed but on the 3905 the servo saver gets sloppy over time.since the saver is non adjustable i came up with this quick and easy mod.
notice here the end of the post sticking out of the upper saver portion.this is how much the spring has fatigued (i think) anyway this 1/8" causes the steering to do some crazy things while driving the truck.
so the goal was to take up that slop. i went to lowes and picked up some 3/8 nylon washers.they are thin so you get to stack as many as you might need to take up the gap.this is the pic of the washer next to the portion of the saver that holds the spring.
now, the washer will not fit over the servo saver spring cup so i need to take the dremell and open the hole till it fit over the saver.
here is a stock washer compared to the modded one.
for my application it was going to take 2 washers to take up the gap.heres a pic shown them on the saver cup.
and the finished product with no gap.
this is another alternative to fixing the sloppy steering on the 3905 max. i know some people are using two bellcranks. this one cost me 73 cents and about 1/2 hour.
