MMMv3 ESC package question and some other stuff - 04.23.2009, 03:24 PM

I've finally grown tired of waiting for the CC/Neu 1800kv motors. And to be honest 1800kv is a bit on the high side for 6s anyway. So I'm thinking the best motor for my 6s truggy is probably the Medusa 36-70-1600 w/heatsink-clamp.

That being said, I'm wondering if the MMMv3 comes with anything?. I'm particularly interested in the CastleLink.

And I guess while I'm at it, does the Medusa come with any connectors installed?

Thanks.

Excellent, thanks. I was worried it might be included in the combo only and not if I purchased the v3 on its own.

If you order from Mike and order from the combo page you don't get the 6.5mm bullets and wires but save a little bit even after purchasing them seperate. The Medusa doesn'tr come with any connectors attached.

So If I were to buy the MMMv3 on it's own, I could just get the 6.5mm bullets and put them on the Medusa and I should be set?

Yes but you will need to add some wire as well, the leads coming out of the Medusa are only about 1.5" long

Ahh, I see what you're saying. I was just checking the Medusa Research page to try and find out how long the leads were.

I guess while I'm here asking questions:

Will the .25 inch brake spacer fit the Medusa motors? I figure there might be an issue with bearing carrier clearance. Then I'm wondering if they even require the brake spacer since the can isn't very big.

More than likely a clearance issue with the front bearing hub, but you could drill out the middle of the spacer to make room. Im thinking about the spacer for my medusa as there are only 2 25mm spaced mouting holes- strip one of those out and you're buggered. Fixing the spacer to the front only gives you 2 spare holes again, but if you strip them out, at least it isnt on the motor. I believe the spacer is 36mm diameter, same as the motor, so its only any use on a neu or hacker or other finned motor towards the purpose of clearing a brake disc or caliper etc.

Thanks for the tip. I guess aside from the mounting hole insurance it doesn't make any sense to use it for mechanical brakes, which is why I was interested in it.

Now I just need to decide if I need the motor clamp or not.
